Sharp car! I really like the MazdaSpeed's looks. Now I'm tempted to test drive one.

Kinda look at it like it's a protege on steroids. If you love your protege than the Mazdaspeed you'll love even more.

Pretty much sums it up, that and they take away cruise control which I guess I don't really mind. I'll take a t25 ball bearing turbo anyday.

I know I need to test one but I had a couple of quick questions since you own one:

How is the ride? I've read a couple car mag reviews that say it's very harsh. How does the ride compare to a stock Protege? Is the ride just stiff or is it actually harsh? I can't imagine it being any harsher than my 5.0 'stang was.

And is there any/much turbo lag?

Thanks.

I wouldn't call the ride harsh, but stiff is a good description of it. I mean it handles like no other and you can take corners at speeds that are just crazy. My friend has an 02 civic and even with me staying under 4000rpm's in a twisty subdivision he wasn't even close to me.

As for turbo lag, well it's a small turbo so it spools fast, lag is pretty minute in my opinion, but also remember that for me the car is brand new. I just broke 100 miles today and have yet to see any real fast accelerations or high speeds in the car being that for the first 1000 miles I have to keep shifts at around 4000rpm's. When the car redlines at 6500rpm's it's kinda hard to tell at this point what it's really capable of.
