My car is confused...

Can someone please tell me why the car is doing this?
The thing keeps going up and down, up and down...

Temperature guage?
Does it go down when you are driving and up when you are idling?
If yes you may just need a new thermostat.

It will start to rise when Im idling
and lower when I accelerate.
Sometimes when Im driving normally down the road it will go up, but if i push the gas slightly it will go down again.
I thought I had the T-stat replaced, but ill have to check, b/c my parents were the ones who tok it to the shop while I was out taht day.

Could be that your fan is either faulty or not connected. That would explain why when you were moving your temp goes down (due to airflow across radiator) and it goes up when you are sitting. After your car is warm, open the hood while sitting and see if your fan comes on.

My '94 Toyota P/U used to do that... ended up being the radiator... my father-in-law ended up blowing the motor up... rebuilt it, still had same problem, temp going up/down... changed the radiator, no more problems.

So, umm, after I check the fans, and If they are still working, it could more than likely be radiator? how much do new radiators cost??

whoa whoa whoa....don't get him all paranoid Barry. Your F-i-l coulda just had an air bubble in his coolant system causing that same problem...replacing the radiator requires you to flush/bleed the coolant which could've fixed the problem.

possible causes for you ghetto:

1. t-stat
2. faulty fan
3. weak/broken water pump
4. por coolant condition
5. air in coolant system

ALWAYS check the free stuff first before replacing parts *****-nilly

1.I have been told the thermostat has been replaced.
2. Im going to check to see if the fans are working later tonite.
3. Hanvt gotten to check pump yet.
4. coolant Im sure has been replaced b/c the radiator was flushed out several times a couple of weeks ago.

how long has the temp gauge been going up on you? You may have air in the system

Well it had been doing it for a day or soo..
till I took it to the local shop, and then the car runs fine for a while, and then it decides to start moving.

We ahve checked for leaks and everything
we even gave it the white concrete test and nothing is left under the car..

it may have air in the system from where they last flushed it out, but I dunno.. i hate complexcity..

i remember i had that problem. when i'm drivin', the temp gauage is fine. when i stop, it rises. until i found out later that my rad fan wasn't workin'. i didn't have to replace it however. it was a minor electrical problem.

My fans seem to be working fine, i hear them turning and what not.
I can't thnk of anything else that would be causing it to do this.
The car is revving a lil bit higher than usuall..
normal - in N - est. 900
current - in N - 1400-1500rpm.

my step-dad keeps trying to convince me that as long as its not across the bar to the H anywhere in between is normal...

I told him i dont think its normal b/c its not something the car NORMALLY does..

They also keep telling me to just drive it till it blows up..then ill get another car..
I dont think that teaches me good responsibility as far as keeping a car together goes..
Im trying to keep it in one piece
they want me to blow it up..
wierd aint it?

even if you hear the fan comin' on, i think you shouldn't rely on just that. you should pop the hood while the car is runnin' and look to see if the radiator fan is comin' on. i say this because i would hear my fan comin' on too but it was the ac fan and not the rad fan.

so just have the car idle, ac off and pop the hood and look to see if the fan comes on. the ac fan wouldn't come on if the ac's off so if you see a fan come on, then it's workin'!
