help

i'm debating if i want to finish my protege still, since i got my ms6. i cant keep it, but i was thinking since my grand ma is looking for a car to buy for my cousin, i could finish my protege and she can pay for the paint and then pay me a little for the car. what i need up with is the head lights. i have a 99 but i'm putting the 01 headlights. first pic is what the 99's look like. 2nd has a circle around a light that i dont what it does. could you tell me what it is and what you think i should do about it?

those are amber daytime running lights. They also work as the front turn signals. The P5 I had came with like 6 different turn signal lights.

I did not think the two were interchangeable because the shape of the lights, and consequently the hood, are different. And aren't the '01s more rounded off on the outside as well?
