I think that Atenza is to be the next 626. Sure looks nice. I hope it has alot of "go" to go with the "show".....

Nice looking cars. The RX-8 looks a little like an S2000 in the front...
Atenza looks mean...

There are three versions of the new Mazda 6, (626 replacement)as it will be named here. A 4 door sedan, a 5 door hatchback, and a wagon. I think the one in the picture is the hatchback. Mazda has only confirmed bringing the sedan to the US in a year or two. They are testing response to the hatchback and wagon to determine whether to bring those to the US. The engine options will be a 2.3L 4 cyl or the Ford Duratec 3.0L V6, both with Mazda's variable valve timing.

Great find winman

I love the '6' with the hatch. I believe the article said the V6 will output 219hp. That car is gonna be fast. I don't dout that the RX-8 and '6' will draw a large aftermarket support

Of interest to Protege owners/buyers, I've heard that the Protege will be getting that 2.3L engine before long. 160hp and 152 ft.lb. should go a long way towards getting rid of the "they handle great but they're kinda slow" press that Proteges have always gotten.

Might even get them down into the 7's.

I see the Alfa but not the Volvo. and for the wagon yes it does look kind of A4'ish. but that's not a bad thing.

drool drool drool...

I can't stop looking at the Atenza or Rx-8. I love protege's to BITS, but the new Atenza, has really taken my liking... I MAY have to ugprade soon, UNLESS the protege comes out with something with more power.... I can see a smaller version of the Atenza, with lots of power... (ie new protege)...

Hey, remember way back in the day when RX-7's looked like Porsche 944s?

Anyhoo, what if Proteges came with KL or KL-ZE V6s from the factory? That sure would get rid of the "handles great, just needs some power" issue while not running into the emissions and lack of room in front of the new 2.0 engine Bugaboos that turbos bring. Oh boy.
