trade p5 ecu for mp3 ecu?
#4
What's the word on getting them programmed through someone on the board? I heard there was someone out there who could get it done. It could be done through Mazda if you can convince them that it doesn't void the warranty...but good luck. My mazda dealer (gearhead that he is) told me of a few import shops that could probably do it around richmond VA (where I bought it), but that doesn't help when I live in Rochester....oh well.

your dealer (if cool enough) could simply re-flash your stock ECU to the MP3 maps. The only difference is a slight bump in timing above 4500rpms. Now that it is colder it may produce more gains. I had an mp3 ecu during the summer and saw little gain. I think a nice header would produce more constant gains.....ANYAY...see if your local dealer would re-flash it for you for $50...I wouldn't pay any more than that for it.

please keep in mind the ECU was not the only contributing factor to the MP3's extra HP..the MP3 had no VTCS(huge flow restriction) and a different exhaust than stock...the ECU flash will not yield much

do the dealers have the ecu in their memory? i talked to the guys down here and they said that if you want to do a swap, you have to have another mp3 come and do the reflash so that they can get it into their memory.
