Fs:bpt-$800+323 Gt-$800 Both-$1500

Up for sale is my 1988 Mazda 323 GT, a faster, more rare, and less known brother to the AWD GTX. It was produced for two years, 1988 and 1989. It is one of less than 900 ever sent to the United States during the two years. There is likely less than 250 left in the U.S. It has a 16 valve Dual Overhead Cam 1.6L Turbo/Intercooled four, producing 132 horsepower and 136 ft. lbs. of torque.
It is equipped with:
• 1.6 liter turbocharged/intercooled B6T four cylinder with oil spray for the pistons, performance rods, BOV, and an intercooler from the factory.
• Close Ratio 5-speed manual
• 14" gunmetal alloys
• 4 wheel disk brakes
• Power locks/windows/mirrors/brakes/steering
• 2 way sunroof
• Cold Air Conditioning
• Adjustable performance tuned suspension
• JVC in dash CD player with remote
• Fold down rear seat
The car has 164k, and has a few minor problems. The biggest being that it suddenly started to smoke. I was driving home from work one night, not using the turbo, and I noticed that it was smoking. I immediately parked it and had my mechanic take a look at it. The smoke was a light grey, definitely not coolant, but also it didn’t smell like oil. My mechanic thinks that the timing is off for some reason, possibly something to do with the timing belt, or distributor. I do know that these 1.6's have a problem with the distributor cracking and creating havoc with the timing. I took the car around the block and it ran fine, just smoked. I checked the plugs and they were fouled, so I replaced them. They are beginning to foul again. The motor is not blown or anything, but is at best out of tune. I have always let the turbo cool down for 1-2 minutes before shutting the engine down. The exhaust up till the catalytic converter were remove to ease installation of the J-Spec BP-Turbo engine that is included in the auction.
The transmission has 2nd and 3rd gear syncros that grind at higher rpms or during quick shifts, I am including another transmission with excellent syncros and gears for free. Also, I paid $350 to have a replacement clutch installed a few months ago, it has less than 600 miles on the kit.
The body is in fair shape, it has a little bit of filler in the rear quarters from the previous owner, and minor scratches and dents. It also has very minor damage to the passenger front bumper and hood that is barely noticeable. Everything else on the car is excellent. The interior is clean and all power options function well. The rear tires are like new and the front two still have a few thousand miles left. I will also toss in a few parts I’ve collected (like new axle, trans mount, etc.)

The engine is straight from Japan. It is a 185 horsepower 1.8 liter Turbo called the BPT (BP-Turbo) It is basically the same engine as in the 323 GT which has the 1.6 liter B6T, but produces much more torque and horsepower. This engine in that car with no other modifications at 9 lbs of boost (stock setting) will produce high 13 or low 14 second quarter mile times. The engine will bolt up fine to the free extra trans I am including above, as will the ecu, trans mounts, and all but one motor mount (one hole needs to be redrilled and placed differently, email for questions). The engine also has a clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate that can be utilized. I purchased this engine with the intent on putting it in the 323. This motor sells for about $1100-$1600 at most Japanese Importers, and that’s if you can find one. This is an extremely rare engine, as is the car. The engine is still on the crate is was shipped on from a few weeks ago and was guaranteed to have 30-50k miles.

The reason I am selling it is I need money for college and other projects. This is an extremely cheap way to have a very fast sleeper. You will never have to worry about any B16A civics again, or GT mustangs, or....

I am asking $800 each or $1500 firm for both which is very reasonable considering that is what a BPT would normally sell for by itself. I would prefer pickup, but could ship the items personally for the cost of food/gas. The car and engine are located 30 miles north of Kansas City, Missouri. I will help in every way possible and please ask any questions regarding either items. I can be reached via email @ Writer5885@aol.com. Thanks, Chase

hey, I am looking for a BP-T, and that is pretty cheap. When were you looking a t getting rid of it? I should have the money by mid-April. I just started a detailing job, and I'm starting to save up for that engine. I could make payment, but I doubt that is what you want. please e-mail me at ntensechick@aol.com (it's my girlfriend's name, and the only way i can get online)

Thank you,
Kyle
