This is my first post here..i know the 6 and the 3 use the same MZR 2.3L so here we go...

I have a 2003 Mazda 6 that needs a new bottom end (spun bearing), I was wondering if it would drop right into the frame using the same mount points?

Does it matter that its a 2006 engine. I know the new engines have a different tranny, but is everything else the same?

 

The mount points are the same, but I can't tell you that it will be a direct swap. There are several configurations of the L3 engine, based on platform, emissions level, and model year. They all share basic hardware but differ in sensors, cam profiles, etc.

 

ya a buddy on the 6 forums said that it wont be easy but it is possible, mainly due to the oil lines in the block goin to the vvt. I guess the 03-04 models were made different. He said any year focus block would work tho. I guess I should jump on those forums and start looking around.
