Any Interest in HID Kits? Please Post Here..

Hi, I'd just like to find out if there is any interest in HID kits on this board.. I am ordering at least 10 sets as an initial order directly from a manufacturer/packaging plant in South Korea (seriously no middle man except me)..

Details on kits are as follows:

I will be ordering 9004's and H4's conversion kits intitially (obviously)..

these kits consist of 2 OSRAM weatherproof ballasts, 2 D2R bulbs/arcs (meant for non-projection housings), heavy duty power wiring, and all necessary cable-ties, relays, etc. to be practically plug-and-play in a car (minus attaching the ballasts somewhere safe)..

the bulbs will be either 6,000 Kelvin color temperature or 7,500 Kelvin color temperature.. I'm not sure yet on whether "brighter is better" so I'm not sure which temperature I'm ordering.. it will be a high color temperature setup though, for certain.. this would be considered a "stage 2" kit, similar to the look of an Audi TT's/BMW M5's headlights in intensity..

The pricing I should be able to offer on these complete retail packaged kits (which should at least theoretically outlast your car's lifespan) will hover around $350-375 plus shipping costs, which is VERY competitive if you've been shopping for these kits before..

let me know if any of you guys would be interested in this..

thanks alot..

oh yeah I forgot to mention, before somebody asks.. you will lose your halogen high beam functionality with this kit.. you will have an EXTREMELY bright low beam but you will indeed lose your high beam for very far off visibility on the road..

http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...5&pagenumber=1

the subaru I-club host a very good group buy
and it cost only $335

http://www.midnightmoose.com/hid.htm

this is a couple weeks off (I need to wire transfer money prior to getting product so I'm trying to save up enough moola for the first order)..

but

if I can get 10 solid commitments for the kit (and please tell me what bulb type you will need), I could probably offer them for $350 each shipped UPS Ground.. but the profit margin on that would be so small its rediculous for me and that would be about as low as I could go.. I know it is a whopping $15 more than the subaru groupbuy but keep in mind I don't need 70 people like they did to make it happen.. so I'm making much less margin on the product, possibly none by the time customs costs come around..

lets me just say if I ordered 100 kits at a time my cost would drop by $20 a unit.. prior to customs shipping etc..

if anybody would be interested in an H4, 9004, or h7 (thats what the p5 uses right?), list yourself here and commit yourself..

keep in mind you will lose your high beams altogether, if your fogs aren't wired up separately from your main headlights you will lose those as well.. and if you have DRL it will be a pain to wire..

if you are just replacing the low beam headlights and your main headlights are not connected with the fogs you will be fine and installation should take no more than 30 minutes.

I'm not a dealer but I would provide a 60 day replacement warranty if anything goes wrong within that period with the exception of wiring it wrong and blowing out the ballasts from the wrong + and - connections.. you would just need to send me back the defective equipment

it is the same exact product and brand as

http://www.midnightmoose.com/hid.htm

it is packaged in korea but is of top quality components..

no nyc, i'm legit.. I'll meet you in nyack, ny if you want when I have the kit so you could pick it up in person.. I'm the guy who was selling the JL amp a while ago but decided to keep it on the protegemp3 board.. just mentioning nyack since you mentioned you chill down there sometimes..

just keep in mind this is at least 3-4 weeks off.. I have to get in contact with the company in korea, find out their banking info for wire transfer first, and come up with the money to send.. (that wont be a real problem)

I'm not asking for any money in advance, I honestly don't want the burden of holding money if this doesnt work out.. so nobody needs to send money until I have the product..

anyway I'm gonna order a total of probably 10-12 sets.. 9004, h4, and h7.. I'm personally gonna use one of the sets in my 2000 protege dx so I will be able to let everyone know how it works out as I am an enthusiast myself..

Protege5, as far as shipping to Canada, I am not sure.. I will look into it in the next couple days, I think it will honestly be more of a pain for you (and me) if anything should go wrong than it is worth.. but I could be wrong.. you would have to pay for duties on your end.. pricing shipped to Canada will all depend on MY cost after customs and etc.. I have been importing butane torch lighters from China but this will be my first time dealing with Korea.. (shrugs).. we'll see.

thanks and keep on posting...

ok sorry for not responding in a couple days..

I am going to get the banking info of the manufacturing company and hopefully wire transfer them (it's called a "TT") the money for 7 kits by Thursday of next week.. then it's a matter of waiting.. I will have the kits by no more than 2-3 weeks (yes its a little wait but hey I"m not asking for deposits so it's all good right?)..

I will know the final pricing when I get them based on what customs + crap ends up costing me.. but they should be no more than $350 USD..

I am ordering (subject to manufacturers approval)..

3 H7 kits, 3 H4 kits (one of them I'm installing on my protege, so call it 2, but NYC you don't have to worry you have first dibs on the 2 H4 kits I will have available for sale).. and 1 9004 kit (for whoever on this board has an oldschoolish protege and still wants the HIDs..).. these will be 7,500 Kelvin kits (the absolute highest color temp available to me from this company).. so they will be really bright.

thanks..

Hey
Are you sure they are 7500k ?

The website also from subaru i-club indicate that the HID kit is 5100k

if It's 7500k

it's too purplish to use in my country

yes they are 7,500 Kelvin color temperature rating.. the ones I'm thinking of ordering at least

I have the ability to order 5,200K.. 6,000K.. or 7500K.. the ballasts which keep the bulbs active are the same.. the bulbs themselves are the difference.. with 5,200K or 6,000K the arcs are a "see-thru" appearance only the xenon content changes.. with 7,500 it is visually more like a blue coated arc.. unfortunately (not in your favor.. Protege5) I will have to order either 6,000 or 7500.. because honestly.. that is what will sell on eBay if I end up having to go that route.. as far as I know converting to H.I.D. is going to be "technically illegal" no matter what.. unfortunately

I may order both color temps, I'll let you guys know whats going on when I know where I'm sending the funds.. nothing is set in stone until I get e-mailed back by my company..

thanks..

just to give a little status update, I sent the wire transfer to the packaging company so I should have the kits within 2 weeks or so I'm hoping.. I will start a new thread once I have the kits in and know the definite pricing shipping included.

I ordered:

one HID kit 9004, 6000K
one HID kit H4, 6000K
two HID kits, H4, 7500K (however one forsale, other's mine)
one HID kit H7, 6000K
two HID kits, H7, 7500K

i'll keep you all updated..

btw nyczmp3.. if you end up getting those philips hid kits that your friend was offering for that great price please let me know so I can free up one of the kits forsale on my buy over here, I have a local buyer who wants an h4 kit for his eclipse if you fall through..

thanks,
David
