I feel I need to say this again in regards to the "non refundable" deposit. I've said before I dont want to ever take anyones money for nothing. The only reason Im asking for any kind of deposit is because from past experience, I get alot of people off the bat wanting to get stuff for their cars & once I start trying to get them produced, I have alot fewer people that are really serious. And when it comes to something as expensive as Carbon Fiber hoods, I want to make sure. In the case of the non-refundable part, the deal is, if you commit to a hood & then back out & Im stuff with a hood that I cant sell, thats where the non-refundable part comes in. It will actually cost me alot more for that extra hood than what your deposit it. But (and this is the more likely case) if you back out and want a refund, thats fine assuming I can sell that hood I ordered for you. So, if I can get someone to take that extra hood off my hands, I have no problem refunding your deposit because Im no longer stuck with a hood so its not costing me anything because you backed out. Granted, this may not happen over night...it could be a couple of weeks before I can sell that hood (hopefully not) but I will do my best to work with you in getting your money back. I would prefer that if you are going to put a deposit on a hood, you wouldnt just back out unless there is a major reason (like you totaled your car or you & your whole family lost their jobs...etc) But if something does come up, I will do my best (I've had a couple people order stuff from me that things like that happened, and I've worked with them on getting them a refund...and there have been many times that I've gone out of my way & lost money because I've tried to help someone with a situation they cant do anything about...like totaling their car) So, Im not trying to steal anything from you by stating there is a non-refundable deposit. Im just trying to cover my back on some rather expensive items that I dont normally carry. I've already stated that I will cover the extra 2 hoods if I can get 8 deposits. Meaning if I only sell those 8 all year, I have 2 hoods that I cant do a thing with unless I go out & buy myself a couple used Proteges! So, Im trying to get this thing going but I need help. Everyone needs to realize that I will be having to pay the full 10 hoods (not a deposit) before Fiber Images will make this. And since Im not Fiber Images, I cant give you a date on when they will be done. Like most car products companies, they are in the middle of production on parts for other cars now & cant stop all that to make the mold for our hoods. They will go in line with everything else. And I certainly cant give any kind of time frame until I at least have the deposits because I cant tell FI to start, until I have those 8 orders. If that happens tomorrow, the order gets placed tomorrow & hopefully based on FI's previous time frames, shipping will be 4 to 8 weeks (they actually did the 2001-2002 Hood surprisingly quick). But if I dont get that 8th order until May 1st, then they wont be in for 4 to 8 weeks after May 1st. Thats why getting these 8 orders ASAP plays a very important roll in how quickly this happens. So, please if you really want this to happen & want these hoods for your 99-2000 Proteges, do your best to get this 25% deposit to me as soon as you possibly can. I've already had what, 3 people pay? Actually I believe I have a 4th sending money soon (right Mike?) So we will be half there. Then we've got Eric & the other Jeremy who seemed very interested in getting this done (both where the pioneering party in hoods for the 99-2000) but neither have replied to me so hopefully they are still in. Leaving 2 other orders!! So, please get to me if you want this hood.

Hey Mitch... you sent me an e-mail at protetype@attbi.com recently about some info I asked for and I lost it. Could you re-send it to protetype@msn.com Stupid outlook and switching over to dsl from cable. :[ I want to get my deposit to you, so we can get this thing rolling. Also, who's confirmed so far?

I'm still interested in the hood, but doesn't that only leave us with six? If I remember correctly, that's how many interested people we had back when we first started talking about this on the ProtegeTech board. Do we have any leads on two more people? Could we get any assistance from Fiber Images? Have they had any email requests for the '99-'00 Protege? Could they put something on the website asking for interest for this application? I'm sure they won't be losing money making the hoods as the 3rd gen Proteges are selling in larger quantities than previous versions. As these cars get a little older and fall into the price range of more younger enthusiasts, the demand for parts should grow. I think their terms, according to Mitch, of 10 100% prepaid orders before they even start production of the hoods is a bit excessive. They're putting all the burden on us to give them sales they will profit from. At they very least, they should be willing to help us find the 2 to 4 additional buyers.

So far... I *think* these are the confirmed...

1. David Potter aka biknman - $200.00 deposit to Mitch 03/06/02
2. eeterp
3. Jeremy Dehart
4. Eric F
5. Mike Lucero aka protetype - 25% deposit sent to Mitch 3/19/02
6. David Brook aka tradr - 25% deposit sent to mitch 03/06/02
7.
8.
9.
10.
If this is the case... this sucks. We're the only ones who've been talkin the whole time. Maybe we can see if Craig or shion69 will be interested. I know shion69 said he just wanted a hood scoop or something of the sort... but maybe we can change his mind. And maybe Craig, since his turbo would just be that much nicer under a CF hood (c'mon Craig!!!!) Mitch, any way of talking FI down on the number since you got the p5 hoods from them? :\ I really want this thing rolling soon. I wanted it before May, but that doesn't seem to be happening... since we can't get enough people. :[

More interest?

I've e-mailed ZOOMZOOMH who has a 00' ES to see if he is interested.

If you check out http://www.mmrusa.com/carbonhoods.htm
You’ll see Mitch’s prices are very competitive.

As far as trying to get just six or eight made I don't think FI will be interested at all in six hoods for Protégés considering all the other models they are producing. Does not look like FI is hurting for business. Ten is just the ground floor I’m sure they are expecting to get a lot more orders than just ten.

If you came to me and want me to make you soothing as unique as a CF Hood in limited numbers you'd either have to pay me a **** load to make just a few and don't expect them soon unless you want to pay even more. But if you promise (large down payment) or show the interest (a list of hundreds with some type of permanent commitment) in the market place for large quantities (profit for me) we have deal. Simple supply and demand.

Well, this really sucks. I wanted the hood by May (or before July atleast) for the shows. I don't really want to wait 3 more months just to get a couple orders in, while i'm out my deposit for the hood. ;[ You don't see any other 99/00 Pro's hangin around where you are? Is this groupbuy posted on mazdamp3.com? I know it's on the egroup. What about Rishie? Maybe he sees some 3rd gens hangin around that might want one. :| I'll pm him.

Wait

I'm welling to wait all summer if that’s what it takes, I really want a CF Hood!
We already got screwed on the gauge pods. So a little patience is all that’s need.
Thanks

David... I'm willing to wait, I just don't like knowing that all this effort is going to be good for next year. Here in Colorado... we don't have too much of a scene yet because we don't have a big enough track and the big shows don't come through here. So we're limited on showtime for imports. Three big shows for the entire year. Other than that, it's the street racing scene and I personally don't like that since I'm against it and don't like running from the cops just to go show off my car amongst the other import'ers. hehe. That's all i'm saying. I want the hood really bad. But, some people might end up backing out eventually if they think their CF hood money is gonna be better spent on a product they can actually have. :[ That's why I want to get this thing going... so we can all be happy and have our hoods ;D
