The Worse Thing That Could Happen

I am still in shock and as I write this I am almost in tears. I finally saved up enough money for my rims that I was getting. I went to tell my mom about the good deal that I got on them and how I should pay. Next thing you know we are arguing. She does not want me to "waste my money on that." She thinks it is a waste of time and money and that I should save it all up. She said she will NEVER allow me to put on a body kit. She said "OVER MY DEAD BODY WILL YOU EVER PUT A KIT ON THAT." I am not allowed to put one dollar into my car now unless it is for engine work (tune ups not performance) gas, or new tires if the old ones get bald. So I guess thats it guys. My very short stay here with you guys was good while it lasted. Half my life has just been shattered. I truly have almost nothing to make me happy anymore. All the straight A's and everything was towards this....and now...I cant have it anymore.

Ouch dude...I feel your pain, my mom is like that too, and she gets so pissed when I buy stuff for my car...however Im lucky enough to have a dad who likes cars, and is supporting me through this...without him, I doubt I'd be anywhere near where I am today...just talk it over with her calmly and tell her what you've achieved to do this and how you earned the money yourself. I think my mom has gotten around to realizing that she cant stop me no more...she understands that the PR5 is my life basically @ the moment...no g/f, just school and my car to worry about...Im sure if you talk to her and tell her how important it is, she will understand...GL man...

I feel your pain. I had the same thing when I got my Protege. My parents got it for me to replace my fully done up Accord which got stolen. The told me when I got the car that I'm only allowed to get tints, rims, and out my system in. Well, 2 weeks after getting the car, I came home with an exhaust. I got into a big arguement with my parents about working on the car, but then they understood that it's my hobby and that I wasn't asking them to help me out with it and they lightened up about it. Granted, I still hear it from time to time, but they never carry on about it so now it's all good.

I am always getting in arguements with my mom over the money I spend on my car. Just last night I told her I needed to borrow her credit card to order some new tires off the internet and she flipped. They are 205/40/17 so they wear down pretty quickly. Especially when stopping from 110 to 40 in a very short period of time, but that is a different story. For some odd reason she thinks I will get tired of buying new tires and put back on the stock ones. Parents just don't understand when it comes to cars. As long as you save as much as you spend on your car she shouldn't have anything to complain about. I wouldn't give up modifying your car without a fight. Good luck.

Well it looks like there is some hope after all. Slim. But some. Luckily my dad likes cars too and understands me hooking it up. Maybe because he used to race when he was younger but his son, (my step bro) is into it too. He is 17 and he has his 90 RX-7. It is pretty hooked up and they never complained to him. But anyways they talked about it and they concluded that I can buy the rims. The only thing is that now I must put 50% of my money into my savings. They are still unsure about adding anything else though...

next time just go out and buy the stuff...if they have a problem with it, tell them that its your hard earned money and you can spend it as you please

my parents started bitching about how much money i've been putting into my car...hehe then they drive it and shut right up

Well that sucks. I guess I lucked out My dad keeps asking me when I'm going to invest more in to my car he asks that about every car I've owned. Well all I can say is do what they say save half your money Or more so they think you are really saving and you will be...For your car.your profile said you are 16 wait 2 years save all you can and when they can't say anything about what you spend your money on buy all you want. But beware they will still bitch alot when you do but they cant do anything else.

Thats a very good point. But its gonna be so hard to go on without hookin up my car. I want to at LEAST drop it! Maybe I can convince them later on to let me do taht and then I will still save. They want me to invest in stocks and 'not make the same mistake as they did'

DITTO. I agree with Bruce....lol

I don't want to make you a rebel or anything, but do you pay for your car?

When I first got my pro in HS, my parents told me that I couldn't buy things for it. They kept arguing and complaining. I pretty much paid for most of the car myself. So, I just went and did things to it and let them be suprised. Well they finally got used to.

Heck, my father LOVES driving my car now....lol

I'm not trying to tell you to disobey your parents, but I believe they will get use to it. Besides, you have your father and brother to back you up.

did you ask her what you should save you money on? if you made the money yourself you should spend it on what ever the hell you want.

i been adding things to ALL my cars, since the DAY i got my liscense...i had a 1980 celica/supra 2 weeks before i turned 16, and it already had a system in it the day i got my liscense...

my parents both know that my car is basically my only release from the rest of the world, and they actually give me money from time to time JUST FOR the car, i'll be it very rarely, but still

my dad said he will help me finish my exterior this christmas, so thats cool, but it sucks that you have to slow on the modding.
