Why do ricers do some of the things that they do?

I never get what ricers do sometimes.

They drive fast all over the place in rush hour traffic while I'm cruising in the right most lane and find myself just 2 car lengths behind them after 12 km despite his infinite lane changes and sudden accels and braking.

They drive fast in parking lots, YTF would anyone do that?To show off to girls? I don't think the girls would say "That guy in the (car's name) is hot!". Rather they would say "What the &*(^ is the guy doing? Maybe young girls maybe impressed with such childish and not to mention dangerous behavior but older girls will realize its idiotic. Besides people walk to anf from their cars in the parking lot. Driving fast endangers those people, and may even land their *** in jail. I don't know about them, but I don't find much excitement driving fast in the parking lot.

Tailgating: Many of whom tailgate me when I'm in the slow lane, and sometime in the fast lane when I'm already 20 over limit thinking I'll go faster. So I just slow down even more, but being still 10 over limit. In the slow lane, I slow down to 20's sometimes, and when after their extensive planning, they decide to pass me, that takes about 10 seconds, and cut abruptly in my lane; I give them a healthy dose of retina incinerating light from my high beams from the P5.

Driving dangerously; Do they do this to impress their girl? I mean why would girls even bother to be with guys like this, putting their lives at stake. The impression of the passenger is much different from that of the driver's. The driver may think its safer (not really) because he/she is controlling the car, while the passenger is scared crap due mainly to the lack of trust in the driver. And if I was a girl and my bf drove like this, I would have a feeling that this guy doesn't even cherish my safety, and hence myself. And to be honest, after hearing with my female friends, telling me about their bf's idiotic driving, I know girls are scared, and don't like that "adrenaline rush" because it is downright dangerous. I admit I drive faster than normal occasionally but only very late at night on roads I am extremely familiar with. But with my gf in the car, no matter what time it is, I always drive much more cautiously, because I don't want to hurt her, myself, or anyone else on the road.

Setting their seatbacks, so they're driving almost lying down. Some people may find this more comfortable, and some peopel are tall so they need it. What I don't understand is why some 5 foot guy would drive in this position, with their short arm just barely gripping on the steering wheel. With the arm outstretched like that, there is much less steering control. When did professional racers start sitting like that. In ALL automotive sport I've seen, the driver sit pretty close to the steering wheel. OKay, so they're racing, and people on public streets are not. So set the seat back a little to get comfy, and being still able to retain adequate control, but not to a 180 position where it takes a great amount of effort to move the steering wheel several degrees. Not to mention sitting down that low severally reduces the ability to see clearly in front of you.
Is it maybe because it gives you a better feel of the road being closer to it? I think its the car, and not just the ride height. It doesn't matter how much they slam their econoboxes all the other components do not dictate a responsive car, unless you go all out and modify everything which most ricers do not do. The BMW gives you a good feel of the road, is it a low rider? Not really. The Proteges also do, but they aren't the lowest riding cars out there.

I guess that sitting in that position perhaps provides improved aerodynamics, lowering the Cd figure a bit to 0.40 in which the body kit increased to. LOL!

the only thing i find funny is the last part.. about leaning the seat back. i do that.. and you mentioned short people doing it. lol. i'm about 5'4, and i always lean back. it's comfortable. :| i get back pains when i sit straight up in the seat. but since i'm short, i have to sit close to the steering wheel anyway to reach the pedals, lol. i didnt get racing pedals because they looked cool, i did because it extended my pedals out.

I find this post realistic.
Ricers are downright stupid.
And that's all that has to be said.
Everything that has to do with bad driving, they do,thinking they are cool.

I don't know about you guys but I remember doing a lot of stupid car related things in high school. Granted it's been 14 years and we didn't have a suitable park bench to use for spoilers but it was relevant. Misbadged cars and lowered trucks were everywhere. 15" wheels were king at that point. 16" was rare and I don't think anyone had a 17" wheel in 1988. I'll have to dig up some pics. Maybe a generation beyond can elaborate some more... Sir-nuke?

I was told the WAY back seat position was a gang thing, it is to prevent other gang members on the side of the road from shooting them in the head because the B-pillar hides there identity and acts as a deflector. Now it is a fad just like those ridiculous giant wings. What cracks me up is those white bread kids, driving around trying to look like gangsters in their tacky rice mobiles, rap music blaring, when you know they go home to their mommy and daddy's half a million dollar home in the burbs without a care in the world. Another thing that drives me crazy is people with their "slammed" vehicles, you know the ones where the bottom of the car is touching the ground and they can't drive faster than 45mph because they have no suspension. Don't they realize how ridiculous they look?****!, I must be getting old to be complaning about this.

dont worry I hate ricers as much as you do!

there is a guy in my area he has a red dx civic ''momo equipped'' it came with 14'' ugly momo wheels with the red plastic insert in them hahahaha!!!
he has performance stickers all over his car,but nothing under the hood.he hangs a bandana from his rearview mirror and he wears one on his haed,''rambo style'',he drives with his seat very inclined so he has absolutely no control over the steering wheel,he drives with his wrist,if you know what i mean, and he drives like an ***.I have beaten his *** about 10 times on the 1/8 mile races so he knows me by now.

when i went to car fever on monday,I had to take the next highway exit since the one i was supposed to take was full of cops and ricers.....guess what!
I saw that stupid red civic beeing towed out of the ditch !He tryed to cross where cop cars only are allowed to and he oversteered and found himself in the ditch!!
I just stopped and laughed at him!
He has probably never felt so bad in years!!haha!!:microwave
