What is a ricer?

Does it mean that you think each additional sticker gives you 5hp.

Or putting a rear wing on front wheel drive car for down force.

I belong to another forum for my Jeep and basically a ricer to them is any guy that puts non functional parts or a loud a$$ exhaust on their car a ricer. Well what do you guys consider a ricer?

I think non-functional is what I consider a ricer. However, a radio, sound deadener, windows, ac, power steering, etc is all "non-functional". they are luxery items.

There is just a common sense line drawn between form and function. Pole-vaulting over that line is what makes one a ricer.

for reference check out my thread on 'make it stop"....THATS a ricer!

It has nothing to do with a FWD or RWD car, its whether or not the wing is functional at speed. You still want downforce, regardless of drivetrain layout. The MP3 and Mazdaspeed wings ARE functional wings, they keep your *** planted on the road at high speed.

My friend's site said you have had to have a combination of things to be termed a "ricer".

1. Stupid big tachometer on the dash

2. The really big wing (a.k.a. shopping cart handle or salad bar)

3. fart can exhaust

4. stupid *** stickers all over the place.

It was termed that if you had 3 of the 4 on an otherwise stock looking vehicle.. you were termed a ricer.

Just a thought.....

This is a hard subject for some people. Different definitions for everyone. I think everyone can point one out on the road and most will agree if you see a ricer. The majority of ricers are Honda Civic drivers anyway, however here's my opinion...putting decals for parts that arent even on your car, big aluminum bleacher wings on subcompacts( I think they look good on bigger cars like rx-7's and supras), steelies in the front and 17"s in the rear, unpainted body kits on the car, fake performance items, like N20 tube bass cannons, "blowoff valve" sound with no turbo...purge valves and no N20...above all...doing "ricer fly-by's"!! I hate that...I'll whoop up on a guy in a civic, shut down, and he'll fly by with his hazards on!!!

I agree with most of the stuff about ricers alot of is in the honda community but I have seen it on a 2003 hyundai accent black wheels, a coffee can welded on the back and the garage door for the spoiler but all stock performance wise

as far as the stickers so are crazy but if you see me with stickers thats woulbe because maybe sponsors or something but none other then that

I agree with just about everything said here except maybe the non-painted body parts.
I know a few people that had spent quite a bit on their body kit and basicly then had to save for a paint job. That, and I have seen plenty of cars out there with the plain flat black primer job that intend to keep it that way even though they spent crazy loot on turbo's and internal upgrades. Project cars may also be daily drivers.

my problem with primer cars is that they should wait until they can do it all at one time...Why put the new panel on and drive around for 6 months and risk damaging it?!?!

Also, I know what it's like to buy parts one at a time and have to hold onto them until everything is complete. I've still got 2 stroker cranks for my turbo pinto sitting in my closet. I've also got a brand new T3/T4 waiting to go on once I can afford the new header...Just comes with maturity I guess!

Autobots! Transform and roll out!

Yeah if ya gonna spray bomb it with primer you really should do it all at once. With the same brand of primer too. LOL. That reminds me of this guy who painted his crappy CRX with that stone speckle paint (as a joke). It looked like a giant pet rock.

I hate waiting to install parts. I waited 3 months to get struts an springs in 'cause of the winter.

Hey Rod, whats a 20ft walking death machine got to do to see pics of that pinto of yours. A buddy of mine had an orange one , think it was a "78" . That thing was great. I couldn't imagine one boosted.

good question, I don't really have any pictures of it. I have one of me and the car in 1996. the car was MINT, low miles, beautiful condition. After I started boosting it it was vandalized by 4 mexicans who tore the car to shreds. Now the trunk is bent in half, the rear seats were torn down, the dash ripped out. I have since replaced the dash with a brand new one...etc. They broke into my car through the trunk to steal my stereo. The best is that my drivers door is unlocked. all they had to do was open the door.

It's been sitting pretty much ever since. I'm just gutting it and starting over with a new forged motor.

Wow man, that blooooows. Pretty stupid dudes too. Even if your door was locked it probably would have been easier (and less expensive for you) just to break the damn window.
Whats the engine size is in yours. The kid I knew built up a 302. I'm not sure if it was stock and he rebuilt it, or if it was from a stang and he rebuilt it . It was a tight squeeze in there. Thats why I couldn't imagine a turbo in it. Did most Pintos have 6 cylinders or something?

My car is actually a "MustangII" its a pinto with the mustang swoops in the doors and a horse on the grill. It had a factory 77hp carbbed 2.3L motor. Currently it has a 2.5L stroker motor (non-forged) and a larger carb turbo running 2.5X's stock boost. It went from 77hp to 219whp REAL quick!

That motor is all but pulled out awaiting my new forged shortblock. I have to wait to work on it until my new concrete driveway gets poured....there are som many little expenses with a new house I keep getting the WANTS pushed back for the NEEDS.

I hear ya. I can't even do a little $10 mod to the car that won't void the warranty. Ah marriage
