update on the patio-wagon

for those who care of my automotive soap opera

I had a chat with the guy from the insurance and the guy from the dealer

Dealer told me to claim it, i did, as much as my family didnt want me to, i did. Talked to the Insurance guy today, he said "its gonna be best if we put a "new" motor in there, we found one with about as many miles as yours has (8.8K)"

I doubt they found one with that many miles, but whatever, as long as it runs im fine. the guy said "the "new" motor will come with a 1 year warranty (I have the 7 year whatever extended warranty) or you could get a new motor that will cost us $4K"

Im not exactly positive, but the less my insurance co. pays the less my rate goes up(?) Im guessing, and hoping. So with that said, theyre going to go ahead and slap that "new" FS-DE in there.

heres the cool part, before he tryed to escape me, I asked him if i could keep my motor, and he said I can have it from my insurance co. for $150 BUCKS!!! haha

so im gonna keep my FUBAR'D motor, tear it apart, figure out whats wrong with it, and build that, when its ready, I'm gonna slap it in my car and see what i can do, woohoo, Im having a buddy of mine help me with the tear down and the build up. This way, i can slap all my new parts/internals on that motor and still drive my car around town.

a common misconception about comprehensive claims is that your rates will go up. I speak with insurance companies all day long about replacement windshields (my shop installs them) and they tell me the rates don't go up with claims like that. The tell me to assure the customer that a comprehensive claim will not raise rates. You should be making a comp. claim patio and so your rates shouldn't go up. Congrats on keeping the new engine by the way.

Glad to see your car's going to get fixed. Good idea keeping that old engine. Repair it, then build it up and turbo that sucker!

congrats Patio....all I want to say is on the motor you are going to "build"....spare no cost....it may take longer....but use all the best parts....make it bullet proof as you can.....you won't be disappointed in the future.
