Street Racing?

I dont know who all here really street races. I can say i have, and have done quite a bit of it. Considering a good deal of my summer weekends last year were spent flagging street racing. And i ran my se-r some too... Now im not doing it anymore. But i was wondering what peoples general idea of the streetracing scene is lately?

Here in lincoln there was quite a Streetracing "scene" up until that movie came out (2f2f), and now everyone seems to be staying home.... or their cars are getting upgraded.

It's a touchy subject...
I tend to want to avoid street racing , cause the **** gets your adrenaline up and ya start acting all crazy....
lol
na seriously though ,
i would rather to avoid it, If the scene was arising and I knew the boost in the pro was enough to bun fire on the idiot who dared to rev on me .... I would do it ...
But otherwise I rather to avoid it ....

It is fun to show those damn Hondas your brake lights (stupid DX dumbasses, always enjoyable kicking their asses). I don't know about anyone else but I have had a lot more trucks trying to race me lately. Stupid supercharged Frontier some idiot owns at the apartments where we live has an exhaust and pulled up next to me at a light, tried to race me on the way back home. There are no words to describe how badly he got his *** kicked. Got back to the apartment and he asked me how big of a turbocharger I was running. Best part was telling him none and that all I had was a measly 130HP to his mighty 210 (my car is pretty much bone stock, few mods here and there but nothing performance enhancing or externally visible). I suggested he may want to learn how to drive or maybe not buy a big POS and expect to win street races against a car with it (I don't think he likes me anymore, feeling is mutual). I'm not one to start **** but when people come up next to me at a light and start revving their engines or some BS, I will give them what they want (haven't lost to one of those dumbasses yet either).

Ok Andrew, you've known me long enough to know that I'm jsut as much of a racer as you, but for the past 6 months or so, (aside from racing pr5owner once) I havent had a single race. I just don't see the reward for the risk. In my province, street racing means you lose your lisence - AND your car. Need I say more?

Now that the Mazda Compact Challenge Series is here, I go to the track now!

I have tons of fun at the track, safely and legally. My car is too slow (in a straight line) to win any drag races or whatever, anyway

hmm, street racing in my car is pretty boring..
hold the steering wheel..
press the gas pedal to the floor...
ooh, i'm moving faster and faster and he hasn't past me yet...
oh, well, 1/2 a car length ain't so bad..
*transmission jolts into second gear*
hmm, lets see him catch me now..
*third gear with engine roaring doing a whopping 40 mph*
****, he's 2 lengths in front...
*fourth gear and engine is racing solid at 5,500 rpms*
woooooweee, 85 mph and climbing...
*topping out and stubborn transmission downshifting into third and back into forth gear*
yippiee, i'm goin 105mph!!! yeah
*engine screaming at a solid 6,250 rpms*
umm... where did he go?
*opponent passes me going opposite direction*

peace

i have an automatic so it's safe to say that i can only watch the races. Still fun as hell though. If they would just open up the track here i wouldn't have to watch this **** on the streets

I street race once in a while!!

i haven't lost yet except to my friend in his integra (he drives just like me, so plus the added horsepower from his integra, he slowly pulled from me)

But yeah, i've raced civics all the time, not a single civic has beatin me yet, beaten about 3 crxs too. and 0 crxs have beaten me.

i can keep up with my friends '93 probe GT (i taught him how to drive 5 spd, but he styll doesn't shift as fast as me, which allows me to keep up), He also has a bad clutch, which just slips at WOT, so he can only race with the accelerator 3/4s of the way down, which basically eliminates his 60 - 70 hp advantage on me.

I remember, he was racing someone in his probe, and did 3 runs, and kept losing, hehe, the guy was about to leave, but my friend told him to wait, and gave me the keys, so i raced the guy, and completely killed him, like no contest at all (the guy we racing had an auto, so he couldn't have screwed up) (And this was when the probes clutch was good) shows how much the driver can make a difference.

Raced a P5 once, i pulled in front, but then missed 3rd gear, which made him catch up n we ran head to head again until i hit really high rpms, n i would pull.... shows dat the FP-DE can match you FS-DEs

hehe, yeah me a bad little boy

Oh but me can't wait for me to get my S5 TII FC.... then i'd like all them to see my *** with 200hp, considering i make dem see it with 122hp

are you racing stock crx's??? I've seen some crazy ones that run 12's easy but then again they were hybrids with GSR motors in them or turbo'd B16's.

But you are right, civics are nothin unless heavily modified. Im not sure my auto 1.6L could take um though but my next car will when i get outta college

Thumbs down

we've had something like 14 deaths here in ontario from drag racing so far and theres an arrest warrent in toronto for some guy who killed someone while drag racing...

drag racing is ok if it's done in a safe place ....like a race track..and away from the public and traffic.

I hear that toronto police are cracking down on drag racing my friend....so once they take away your licence and haul your *** to jail make sure you dont pick up the soap in the shower and....have your bicycle nice and shiny cos thats what you'll be using for years to come...

ye i know, when done up the crx can be pretty mean, but i've raced the ones with only maybe an exhaust done on the stock motor.

ye man, i know, i haven't dragged since march i think... I've kinda slowed down alot, just drive like 10kmph over the limit now at most

Our pros are nice little cars, but ye even tho they can take civics n stuff, they difinately can't match higher powered cars, except in the twisties, n me love twisties, but styll the higher powered cars can just use their power to catch up when ur on a straight....

when i used to race we went out of the outskirts of town, where theres nothing but fields and dust and stuff , n we pulled our quick races there, and that was it, if there were cars around we would stop the race, and wait, tried to make it safe, but styll we are dumb for racing on the street
