I bought my car July 28th of last year. I just rolled past 19000 miles. THAT's a lot of driving.

19000 miles in about 8 months. At this rate it comes out to about 28500 miles per year.

Yeah, I don't plan to have the Protege very long

Another 3-4 years at most.

The cool part is ... our cars can take it. Try driving that 1990 Pontiac Sunfire 30k per year.

So true. I plan on driving my P5 until it falls apart. At the rate I drive now, I will have 100,000 miles on it when the loan is finally paid off.

But with the way cars are built today, I don't think it is unreasonable to get 300,000 miles or more out of a well-maintained car. The only reasons it's odd to see is because: 1) People don't care enough to maintain their cars, and 2) We are fickle in general, and people always want the latest and greatest. So we sell our cars in favor of buying something newer and cooler.

I don't know how long my P5 will last. But that will most likely be due to my own "gotta have a new car" mentality, not because the car dies or is not maintained.

I plan on updating my sig every thousand miles or so - why not, right? In fact, it's time for a 1k bump already! And there it is \/

Well, I just purchased my P5 (used) on December 12th, and this is my 3rd oil change I'm about to get done tonight....

9300 miles in 3 months and 1 week. And that's 99% just normal driving.. I haven't even hit the summer road trip season yet...

Last year I put 28k on my v8 4x4 dakota, and another 6k on my Rx7.....

Does that mean I drive too much?

bought my car sept of 2001, and in ... 19 months i'm guessing, i've put 25,000 miles on the car, got it at around 80,000 miles, and it's now taching at 105,000 miles. so far, just stupid **** going wrong with it, thats all (whole intake, fuel pump & filters, brakes and rotors, ignition system (tune up), radiator, tranny, all new struts, new front sway bar linkage and of course oil changes... still needs new front left axle i believe, timing belt is well over due, and front right caliper needs replacing oh, and can't forget the $1200 in body work it will need) still running stock battery without a problem, pound the hell out of my car (hence the need for frequent repair), got a nice bumping sound system, so i'm happy. baby treats me as it should, MISERABLY... heh, i'm starting to feel bad for my pro, i'll start to take care of it soon
peace
