Fonda set for anti-Iraq war tour
Fonda promised that the tour would be "pretty exciting"
US actress Jane Fonda says she is planning to go on a nationwide bus tour in protest at her country's military intervention in Iraq.
The 67-year-old activist says she will be joined by families of Iraq war veterans on the tour, due next March, and use a bus run on vegetable oil.
Her announcement, made while promoting her autobiography at a bookshop in New Mexico, was cheered by the audience.
The star was dubbed Hanoi Jane in the 70s for her stance on the Vietnam War.
She caused an outcry when she was photographed sitting on an anti-aircraft gun in north Vietnam in 1972, while touring the country to call for an end to the war.
Although she has since called it the "largest lapse of judgment that I can even imagine", some people have never forgiven her.
In April, while promoting her book in Kansas City, she was spat at in the face by a man claiming to be a Vietnam veteran.
'Pretty exciting'
"I have not taken a stand on any war since Vietnam," she told some 600 people who turned up to see her speak at the bookshop in Santa Fe. "I carry a lot of baggage from that."
Fonda has apologised for her 1972 trip to Hanoi
But she said she had been encouraged to join the anti-Iraq war movement after meeting war veterans on her book tour.
"I've decided I'm coming out," she was quoted by the Associated Press as saying.
Ms Fonda said little else about the tour, other than her daughter would be joining her.
"I can't go into any detail except to say that it's going to be pretty exciting," she said.
The actress, who has won an Oscar twice and been nominated a further five times, was promoting her book, My Life So Far.
She's using this in conjunction to promoting her book...I think it's BS.
Support you troops....not your pocket book bitch.

*EDIT*
Ok..I can't say exactly how I feel about the present state of our nation or the war we are in, because well....i pledged my loyalty to this country....but i can say this. i have had a lot of friends, very personal and other wise, and a few relatives that have been there and back and others who have come back missing stuff or f**ked up in the head...but whatever....i think ppl who talk out about how the troops are POS's etc and all that should be lined up against a wall and shot. Especially those who hang out with the enemy, play with their guns, apologize after everyone osterizes, and then hops right back into the same ****.
Ugggh...celebrities think they can change the world....

watch the language.
she's an american and as such she's free to oppose whatever war/millitary action she wants.
If you wanna get into it I also oppose this war and vietnam. Do I dislike our troops?? no way. They only do what they're ordered to do. I find that respectable. I hate our millitary leaders for putting innocent young americans in harms way so carelessly.
Jane Fonda took a picture with the VC giving them the thumbs up..... so what, it was the 70's everyone was high as a kit and less than 1/4 of anyone who lived through it can recall all of their actions during that period.
You need to learn to let go of stuff that has never affected you in any way.
Do you think Jane Fonda is the only person in the world who opposes our "war"? She's a celbrity and more visable than others but I think it's only fair to point out that 60% of americans are opposed to what we're doing now and about 90% of the rest of the world is opposed to it.
This is no way is an attack on you, your character, your friends, or our service men. It's an opposition to our leaders current actions.

But you also have to remimber that this war was based on miss infromation. Even Kerri said he would have done the same thing as Bush if he was givin the same info. Now that we are there we can not just leave. The leaders don't want to be there either.
As far as what Fonda is doing and did. We might not have been there when she had her 15 mins of fame but it still affects us. As a solder it doesn't matter who or when. Just like the new slogan, and army of one! One she isn't the only person, and I don't know whats more disscusting. The fact that she is using this war and the fallin solders to promote her book, or the fact that she is a liberal yuppy that thinks that we should just let people do what ever they want and forgive those that hurt us. She is a trator in my eyes, along with all the other people that went over there and belittled our solders. Now shes doing it agin, same thing just learned a better way of doing it.
If the Americans actted like the other countries and stood by it no one would dare try to hurt us. But we have the right to chose and in a way that hurts us as a hole.

Eh...it's different for militry folks Matty...we have varing views on the war...we all do...however, she's no better than th scumbag who kills my friends on the daily. Think about it...if your bro was in the Marines, and he was KIA or MIA and some lady decided to use that for her personal benefit...you'd be ticked off....if you were in the military and you wife or girl died over there...and some random American citizen pulls a stunt like that, you'd be upset. Think about it. I'm a D, and I agree with alot of stuff you have to say Matty...including the fact that you are the only D in b-ham (lol)...I feel the same fawking way here...I just think if you looked from a differnt perspective...you'd change your views. Granted, as Americans we have the right to speak freely...however, how many men & women have to die on the daily to keep it like that? And for a 'known anti-American' to use it as a tool to increase the bulge in her pocketbook? Ha ha...that's nuts bro! I can't make mention of our current leaders actions...but yeah.
