Radar Detectors

What exactly are the diffrences between a really expensive one and a cheapy that costs like $25.

From what I've found out the more expensive ones just have a whole buch of fun features like they wont go off in parking lots and crap like that.

Do I really need these extras. Or will a cheapy work just as well.

Re; Radar Dicktectors

I've used radar since the early '80's, and have bought "cheapies" and the top of the line. The cheapies(BEL) ALWAYS broke, and the company's service is less than stellar. I have 2 of the old original Passports that are now obsolete, but they still work after 15 years. It's too bad they won't pick up Ka band and laser.
The detector I use now is a new Valentine 1, 1.8 Slimline. They are not cheap, but in my opinion definately worth it. Long term; we'll see how it holds up.
Check Ebay and see what used Valentines are going for. Idiots are willing to pay almost as much as the detectors cost when new, so I guess that says alot about the quality.

Yeah a lot of it is quality you do tend to get what you pay for. i spent about 200 on mine and it has kept me out of jail a couple of times so far... and i do mean jail.. going over 100mph in this state takes you strait there.

One of my freinds sold his cammaro and picked up a truck so he's willing to sell me his cobra radar detector for $30.

Or I can pick up some sensro thing over at costco for like $100. Then again a radioshack one sounds good for $15.

HOly ****
Valentine 's that are 8 years old cost $300. WTF.

I feel it does almost as good as a high end one, but it still gets the job done and saves my ***....

save some money by buyign a cheape rone and sue the extra 350 bucks on mods to help you speed
I'd be interested in putting my passport 7500 in the same car at a TCPC meet just to see the results. Interested?
