This is a excerpt from www.mazdausa.com site. "The Mazda Protegé5's innovative combination of conspicuous good looks, sporty performance, and versatile hatchback roominess is sure to get you going—and fast."

Notice the term hatchback. I consider my P5, a hatchback. Its a Protege Sedan...with a HATCHBACK!! Its very simple... say it with me... Protege Sedan, with a HATCHBACK!

Now, say the word Protege 5, 5 is for 5 doors, 1, 2, 3, 4 and HATCHBACK! LOL

Im not trying to be a smartass, but I consider the P5 a hatchback. I dont really care wtf anyone calls it, I LOVE MY P5!

sorry dude....but it is NOT a Protege Sedan with a hatch..if it were...it would LOOK like the sedan only the trunk lid would be attached to the rear window area and it would all lift as a single unit. not to mention the back doors would be interchangeable which they are not. they only look the same from the post forward.

Just to follow up on webmaster and Installshield's comments, from the Mazda web site.

P5 length: 170.5in
Sedan length: 175.3in

So I was a little off--the P5 is a little more than 5" shorter. Wagons are not shorter than their sedan counterparts, dammit.
