Project SE-R has begun!
I didnt know weather to put this in Forced induction or here, but since its not a protege i put it here.
I started getting parts for my SE-R today.... hell yes! Manifold from a bluebird SR20DE-T ($200) and a beauty! will do, shouldnt be very hard though, all the oil lines are prepared and such (block drilling aint fun :eek: ) the car is kinda im-mobilized, lol but i dont plan on driving it much this winter when its snowy and crap anyways.
on another note... just thought id show off the new teeth (intercooler) the se-r will have... this is on another guys car, but its the same intercooler and setup im doing (discussed with him alot about my project)... it maybe small, but more than sufficient, he runs 15psi boost all day long running 12second 1/4 miles, with about 300hp :D oh yeah, nothin like having stock forged and counterweighted internals capable of 400-500hp with proper fuel management http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~sgg8661/greg/frontic.jpg with bumper http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~sgg8661/greg/frontic2.jpg if anyone wants to see what i will be going through/am going through to install Day 1 Day 2 Day 2.66 Day 3 Battery Relocation Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Final Day |

Dare I say, I've always been a fan of the B13 Series Sentras, my previous car being an XE couple. Even today, I'd contend that the SR20DE is a great engine-- From my outside observations (I had the GA16DE, not the SR..), I always heard good things about the SE-R's of that generation.

the B13 series sentras rawk! reliable as hell, and then you get an SE-R version... and shiiiiiiiiiiit, solid car, looks good, has a damn good amount of power, LSD!!!, Forged internals.... its an SR20 baby...... the potential is freakin sweeeeeeeeeeet of this motor.... but if any of you get a chance to drive a sr20 powerd se-r, you'll know what i mean. yes i love my se-r! and good luck to you guys with your turbos too, wanna race? |

we're looking at about 225whp before dyno tuning and the new ecu (JWT remapped for turbo and such)..... mmm hello 12second world (hopefully) |

sr20 loves boost, and has a turbo version too... so parts are cheap for turbo.... so i can run 300+hp for 2000 dollars or less, hell ill have only spent about 1000 by the time i have my beginning done... after that i may not upgrade much for a while..... eventually a few other things... but we'll see, for that price i may be able to break 300hp... but thats pushing it on the t28
but the beauty of this generation se-r is the surplus of parts, we're talking comparable to civics, engine wise.... exterior....blah oh well, you have the stillen and erubani kit, but who cares..... its all about the SR20. |

ah nah i didnt strip it, i gutted my trunk though, surprisingly that lost about 200lbs off stock
and when i go racing i take out my rear seat, and deck and that helps a little too |

True True ,, I was speaking to a guy that lives in Dutches (poukepsie) New York , I work with him , and I was running my Turbo Protege plans by him ,, and he was telling me about his sentra ser Turbo with a SR20 engine (or wich ever is the jap version) .... lets just say that thing is bitching ... god I have to go by there and check him when I get a chance,, cause he was telling me about some places that can make me frigin downpipes and what not ..so u know it will be on then lol .... I was basically running my gtx 1.8L turbo concept by him ... (he was pretty amazed , but not surprised,) as he came across a 1st gen protege that was secretly turboed and giving him a good run.... he said he took a ride in the car and it had good tourque ,, oh well enough of me babling ,... on to my ftp trading ...

but yea the japanese version of the sr20 is the same thing, they have a SR20DE (same, and 10:1 compressions) and many many versions of the SR20DE-T (same thing, jsut turbo and various addons) |
The sentra remind me of the 90-94 protege except its alittle rounder and comes in a 2 door ,, either car they still have easy turbo upgrades to make them go hella fast i could of turbo charged my motor and got 300 hp but i want it to be more reliable so i bought a GTR motor ...How much hp can a SE-R sentra transmission hold? ...Jon 93lx

yea... the sr20 engine is a bit stronger stock though, from what i can find... but i hear exactly what you are sayin there!
our trannys (in the se-r) i believe will do fine with 300-350hp... not exactly sure on that number... but after that they crap out on us. really thats our only problem with nissan, in all their cars with the sr20 weather it be FWD, RWD, or AWD.... they arent strong enough, but there are easy upgrades for our trannys for a mear 200 bucks that will help them stand more power. ah and one big complaint... our 3rd gear i guess is relatively easy to break... i hear of alot of turbo guys breaking it. but we can buy new syncros and gear sets cheap :D |
Yeah the lx pros break around 300-350 hp too but thats cool i dont wanna get more than that right now....Jon

im not to worried about that either.... im not looking to push more than 300hp.... im lookin more for 250-275WHP max...... just because this is gonna become my daily driver this summer, most likely

i like my 3rd gen pro, yeah the first gen is faster, easier to hook up, but i like never cars.

lol yea, i just hate the engine in the 3rd gens.... no offense, but i see no potential, unless you are willing to swap.... oh and i own a 3rd gen, and have owned another one too.... if you see.
but im starting to love this project even more: where we are doing the turbo install in a month or so, in my friends big garage/workshop that can fit 3 cars atleast.... there is going to be my friends 97 Tbird (v6) getting a new heart (engine)...... a 03 Mustang Cobra engine, our of a wrecked car.... hes been workin on it for a few months, and finally is going to put it in.... drool, he is looking at 500hp with the few things hes done to it.... haha ill still win :D haha, righhtttt |

yea but the FS just isnt as strong, and cant be as reliable under alot of power.... i mean shit there are guys runnin around on all stock SR20DE engines, boosting 30psi, and running 400hp DAILY! you're talking 10-11 second cars..... sure the trannys have been upgraded to be stronger, but these are reliable daily drivers... talk about potential
