problem with vandalism

I was wondering what options I would have if someone vandalized my car. One of my friends gave me a heads up that someone they know has thought about f'ing with my car. I wouldn't be surprised if he did but I was just wondering what I could do once this happens. How much proof do you need to take it to court? I don't have much proof. I just have the warning from my friend saved to my computer.

Yous should park it near a video camera or have your video camera reccording it. Im pretty sure u can find a decent camera for a little money somewheres (like the kind that weighs 20lbs....) off of ebay or something..

*edit* - you would at least know the name of who did it and why would they do it, other than your freind - how do you know they did it.... - but - video feed back would be at least 80% fool proof.

Thought it might help ,
Earl

IF you don't have any PHYSICAL evidence....such as a video, or eye witnesses......you are going to be hard pressed to even get a DA interested in any procecution.

You can however let the local Police know so they are aware of the fact, your friend also can be a material witness depending the the costs inflicted by the moron should something happen, Depending on the age of the individual and the intelligence level he might just cave in and say I did it after the cops show up.
When people get scared and you have a witness they tell all.
I heard from a grapvine that my amp was stolen (old in the garage broken) Someone told or my friend over heard them talking about that person ganking it and I got some other stuff stolen from my car and figured once this happend that the person was whom my freind told me about. Long story short it was not the correct theft that occured that I was worried about but I did make the amp (garge) theif pay for the broken amp.
Words get around!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm just hoping that it doesn't happen. The worst thing is, I don't know when it might happen or whats going to happen.
