please be careful

I know this might sound a little mushy....
I've been on this forum for quite awhile now, and I have talked to quite a few of you on here. It has turned into quite a little weird family, so that being said, I feel I need to tell you all this.

A very good friend of mine got drunk on Saturday night, drove his car, slid off the road and into a tree. He did this at around 10:30pm. He was not pronounced dead until 1:45 am, with the cause of death being multiple blunt force trauma. Now I have to go to his viewing tomorrow night and see him laying in that casket. He was only 23 years old.

Now, for my main point.

I just want everyone to be careful. Don't be irresponsible. I know that many of you on here know each other very well, and I'm sure care about each other. Watch out for your friends and make sure that if they are drinking, they are not driving.

I'm not trying to preach to you guys or looking for sympathy. I just want you all to be careful and don't drink and drive.

Sorry for your loss. I learned a long time ago not to be irresponsible. It comes with growing up. But thanks for caring about your fellow Protege brothers and sisters.

Sorry to hear about your friend .. unfortunately theres way too many people who have lost a friend to drunk driving and can understand what your going through.. me included

On a more positive note.. if your too drunk to drive.. call a fellow protege owner.. we're always looking for excuses to spend time with our cars.. aren't we..

I'm so sorry for your loss I know how hard it is to lose someone close to you so suddenly. Thanks for the words of wisdom as well, it never hurts to mention the importance of having D.D.'s.

Good point fraay... too bad there's none around here I'm still the DD around here anyway though, being too young to drink and all.

P5gurl, we are very sorry for your loss...and your friends families as well.

Fraay raised a VERY VERY good point......IF you are out partying...at all...and you find yourself in a position that your designated driver is now unavailable or for some reason you need to leave...PLEASE pick up a phone and call someone....or a cab.

I recently had a my best friend in the world decide NOT to do this....no he didn't get killed...no he didn't kill anyone else....but he did get stopped, he did get arrested for DWI, and now the job he has had for 16 years, his families income is all at jepordy. When it comes to this sort if behavior, the industry I am in is very hard on people....it has to be, there are public safety issues.

BELIEVE ME....if you had to call a freind to come and pick you up....they TRUELY won't mind and will do it with a smile on.....not to mention it now gives them the right to raz you for life....poke some fun.....that is until THEY need you for the same reason.

Take Care EVERYONE.

Sweetie.... I am so sorry. I know how you feel. Except my friend was hit by a drunk and kill and she is not in jail or anything. Her hubby is a cop. I am so sorry for your loss.

Please let me know if there is ANYTHING at all I can do to help.

first of all, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend.

second, you said you weren't looking for sympathy and though this may sound wrong (I'm sorry if it does), but I have no pity for drunk drivers...I most certainly have no respect for anyone who has ever even driven a vehicle while intoxicated - and did not get caught.

I say this because I was rear-ended by a drunk driver...almost killed me...I now have to deal with a bad back for the REST OF MY LIFE.

why? because of a drunk driver.

I'm sure this is not the appropriate time/place to rant about this topic...it's just that the tone of this thread was starting to head in the direction of attaining sympathy...the point that P5Gurl was trying to make was that irresponsible decisions lead to dire consequences.

don't be stupid. if you're going to drink, DO NOT DRIVE AFTERWARDS. nothing can make you sober except for time.

To Gerard-- Don't get me wrong...I think it was dumb as hell what he did, and we are all mad because he had to be that dumb and then kill himself.

The reason that I posted this was because this is a car fourm, and I know how much everyone here loves their cars, and I just want everyone to be careful. I just don't want to see this happen to anyone else.
