Have you ever seen the video of a cat jumping off the top of a telephone pole, and running away? It's crazy as hell, some firemen are trying to get it down, and it jumps and runs away.

I heard that cats have a higher chance of surviving from high heights as opposed to low (up until a reasonable limit.. then I'm sure they go splat just like everything else).

Reason being that they have more time to make sure they are in the correct position to land.

Dude, that reminds me of a story when I was growing up. I grew up on a farm, and we had a big power pole in the middle of the yard about 50 yards from the house. We were eating one night at the table in the kitchen when we heard some cats fighting outside (we had quite a few cats back then) We then saw that our tomcat (Gus) was chasing a cat (Kitty) around the yard. Kitty decided to climb that pole to get away from Gus (he was to big to climb it) Right as the cat started up that pole my dad says (This can't be good) And I swear it wasn't two seconds later Kitty stepped on the exposed transformer and fell about 35 feet. That cat hit the ground so hard we could hear it inside the house. My sister started to freak (she was a couple years older than me) I was probaly about 13 at the time and my brother was 10. My brother and I started to laugh our asses off. My sister ran outside to check on the cat and it was laying on the ground convulsing from the shock. It then saw my mom and sister coming and took off into the trees. It showed up like 3 days later like nothing happened. My sister still gets pissed at us to this day when she goes to pet a cat we make a buzz sound when she gets close. This was one of the most fucked up things I have ever seen, plus it was kind of funny. Thanks for bringing back old memories of my childhood Protege Menace.

How in the heck did I know that you were gonna chase the cat.... lol ohh my god if some humanitarian see's this it's a wrap for you bro ..
But cats have great rebound and flex. I think they fall into there fall , kind of like a suspension . There legs can bend a lot further back than ours can and they bend in the opposite direction . so shock may be more easily absorbed...
ok enough let me shut up
later

apparently cats shoulders arent attached to the rest of their body structure, free floating only supported by musles and ligiments, hence y they can spring abd bounce so well, plus cats always walk on their tippy toes

Maybe it was the "Six Million Dollar Cat"...

We can rebuild Fluffy. We have the technology. We can make her stronger, faster, better.

Did you hear a "BA-na-na-na-na-na!" noise when it jumped?

I've seen a cat falling from a 13 story building It fell straight on its feet but then tipped over on one side, got up, and walked away like nothing happened. I couldn't believe it. I think those things have more than 9 lives.

The agility of cats is one of the reasons I like them so much. I just think it's cool how balanced and resilient they are.

But it is seriously funny when they **** up - try to jump somewhere and miss, etc. I have three of 'em - happens all the time.

I also LOVE to scare them. Cats will get VERY focused on something - like a bird outside or something like that. Once they are "in the zone", I will very quietly pick something up and lob it in their direction. I've got one cat that has literally jumped 5 feet in the air - great fun.

But it is their internal balance mechanism that always lands them on their feet. Most cats can flip over from a height of only a foot or so. Pretty amazing when you grab them by their feet and see how quickly they zip around when let go.

Cats rule.

I have to agree that the coordination and quick reflexes of cats is amazing. I have two and they're a lot of fun. I'm 6'3", and when I'm doing dishes, one of my cats will jump from the floor and balance on my shoulder while I'm doing dishes.

I'm moving to a slightly rural area where I own about an acre and a half and I'm trying to convince my wife to let me buy a bobcat or a snow leopard. That would be awesome.

Speaking of cats, my friend had a cat when i was in elementry school and lived in a Apt on the 6 floor in Newyork. Good thing is that the back area was gated off and had tall grass but still. The cat fell about 5 times and still walked it off as if it was nothing. Also when he was gone, to keep the cat from jumping off he put a dog leash around the cats neck and chained it to the railing which was a bad mistake, the cat jumped again and hung by the neck for about 20 mins. I remember coming home and seeing the cat hang from a leash next to all the plants and things hanging lmao I ran up stairs and told his father the cat was hanging, think he was having sex or something because i seen panites and things all over the floor and some naked fat lady in the back peeking from out the door , 15 mins later he came outside and pulled him up and went back in lmao. Everyone was all pointing at the poor kitty chuckin pebbles at it . But it survived !
*Sings I will surviveeeeee I WILL SURVIVEEEEEEEEEEEEE La la LALALA lalalalalala !*
