Well, after a total of about 6 hours on my key-job, (see the post here for the full story,) I've finally got the car all fixed! It isn't original, but you can literally only see about a 2 inch part of it where it was originally really deep. My dad has done a wonderfull job! I would post pics, but I took some earlier, and you can't tell there ever was a scratch, so I'll save you all the time! Yeah! my baby is back to normal!

Someone mentioned wanting the steps to fix marks and chips, so here they are:

1. Start by filling the chip with touch-up paint. Do about 5 coats, and be liberal. Make sure you COMPLETELY FILL THE CHIP!!! Make sure there is paint bulging out of the chip. If you can still see it indented, you'll see it when finished. Keep adding paint.

2. After the paint has dryed for at least 12 hours, begin by WET sanding it with a block and 800 grit paper. Make sure you bring it to just about flush with the original paint. Leave a little bit still raised however.

3. Change to 2000 grit paper, and wet sand the bugger flush with the original paint. Make sure you blend the chip and surrounding area in well. You may notice that the area is now foggy, and you've scratched the **** out of your paint, however this is not to be worried about.

4. After you've got the offending chip well blended into the surrounding area, take some "Brasso" (VERY fine abrasive, used to restore brass finishes. Available at Co-Op, Home Depot, etc.) And place it on a soft cloth. Now, just polish the area until it's shine returns to a beautiful lustre!

5. Wash and wax the area, and you're ready to go!

damn dude, awesome job! and great instructions, will help me when i get around to fixing the small scratch on my back bumper (gd carts at the mall, dont go shopping with your girlfriend at those places, they are evil)

hey Nick, i'm glad you got your ride back to normal thanks for the info too on how you got it fixed. some girl hit my moms car last week, and when she gets the insurance check, i'll spend a bit of on the stuff you mentioned and fix it all myself.

well maxx..there is only one thing I would recommend doing different...insted of using brasso...which is a metal polish on my paint....get some Meguires Glaze...it will do exactly the same thing...and its designed for use on paint.

I don't think Meguire's is abrasive enough to completely smooth and polish it is it? I use Zaino swirl remover after the Brasso for a flawless shine. I would have added that, but not many people use Zaino.

Hey Nick, where are you guys getting Zaino from in Calgary? I'd love to try some, but I'm not into mail order/internet BS.
