Miata Haters

What's up with people calling them chick's cars, etc.

I was at the auto show, and I really wanted to sit in one.... I'm 5'9 170 pounds and I had a bit more then enough room to sit in it, mind you I didn't try adjusting seat position (don't know if it would help). There was this couple walking by and they said to each other 'Wow, what a chick's car'. I turned around and wanted to tell them to off, but instead I chose the words 'Actually it's a nice car'. Then all these other little kids that look like they should be taking their road test soon would pass by and say 'What a crappy car...'.

So what if girls love the looks of them? That means that they look good, not that they're chick-mobiles. Wouldn't you want a car that girls like too anyways?

BTW, they had one really close to a Viper, and this might seem funny to some, but new Miatas look a lot like the Vipers from the front....

well, the miata doesn't have that aggressive look, so i'm sure ppl would mistake the car as being a lame-duck that only women would drive, not knowing it is/was (until the rx8) mazda's "flagship" car in production. i remember a long time ago when the miata first came out, no one took the car seriously and even today amonst the general public, ppl don't know what the car is capable of.

ahhh, but i agree with the Man. totally dif thinking overseas.

personally, i like the miata. it's actually kinda euro-sexy.

People wouldn't consider them chick cars if they had any idea how seriously Mazda took the engineering of the Miata. They worked very hard to get a specific look, feel, and even sound for it.

I'd seriously consider it but I'm more of a hardtop guy, and will go back to an MX-3 as soon as I can afford to (the Protege I'm getting will go to my daughter at that point).

aaaahh the mx3. I had one before my P5. I miss that car sooo much. I'd buy one again if they came out with them again. I just don't have the money to buy a used one and have to fix it up. When I'm rich and famous I'm getting one, painting it yellow and modding the crap out of it. Summer car of course. Damn I miss that car

Mine was a '93 GS Special Edition. I really miss it a lot. Sigh.

I like my wife's car

My wife just got a 2001 (it was new, and it was a really good deal)... I think it's a really sharp looking car.

I think the newer models are more reminiscent of the old muscle cars... Check out the lines on the hood, some nice sensual curves... and then looking at the tail when I'm trying to follow my wife, it's really pretty mean looking. Now that they've gotten rid of the flip up headlights the nose is more rounded, not so much flat... very cool indeed.

And there is quite a bit of room in it... I'm 5' 9" and there's still room for the seat to go back.
