Message board ideas

I wanna setup a messageboard for my friends' band. The board needs to be hosted for free and have limited or no popups and be easy to use. Can someone recommend something?

I second that. Hosting is pretty cheap these days anyways. I installed phpbb here at work as an internal bb, and so far it's working great, very easy to setup.
