I too, like Makeveli must admit to doing this on occassion as well as applying make-up when I am running late (which can be all too often) It's one of those things you just can't do when you're driving stick - I know I've tried

Automatic or manual????

Wassup??? Well ive been hearing alot of talk on whether manual transmissions are better than automatics. Well i think its like this: I have an automatic. does that mean its less sportier than a manuel???? Maybe but i bought my protege ( 2000 lx auto.) with the thought of having a chillen yet sporty car. Now my friend has a '96 lx manuel and he can beat my other friends '99 es auto. aint that some ****?? Well i know our cars arent the fastest things in the world soo y not have a car that can speed and not have to worry about going through 100 shifts on the way back from work. I dunno but im happy with my lx auto. and i could still hold my girls hand without having to worry about some @#$! head in some other 4 door passing me.

Is there something wrong with your left leg?

Why would you wish to pay more for a car that accelerates slower, uses more fuel while driving, and denies you the joy of total car control.

5spd manual baby!

When I got my Pro (99) I was not in to adding mods and did not care about the extra power. I wish I had a manual now d$%& it.

Brackets anyone?

Anyone bracket race? Sure heads-up racing is fun, but after getting spanked all day by 10 and 11 second cars, it's nice to still come out a winner at the drag races. With a manual tranny, it's harder to be as consistant. And consistancy wins bracket races.

Is having a trophy winning, daily driven, drag racing, 5-door sporty?

All in all, I'd rather have a manual too. But it's my wife's car and she was tired of the 5sp in her last car.

I not sure I under stand why an auto whould give you wins in a drag race with a low powered motor. The test times better with the stick and if you drive a manual every day you will be as consistant.

When I drive an auto it makes me hate the car its boring.

Did I miss some thing, who wants to do that. I would think that it would be a pain in the ***.

LOL man i learned how to drive a stick the same day i got my mp3. HEH rented a honda from the local enterprise and learned on that (P.S. if you see a silver honda at one of their stores id advise against getting it, at least in VA.) The only thing i hate about automatics now is when i drive them and "forget" that they dont have a clutch. I can think of at least 2 times when i've gotten a close up view of the dash/window/steering wheel. But bottom line do whatever you want to do in the end is still YOUR car! You could always do this, a friend of mine had a race shifter installed in his 96 Impala that he had mod' from Linkenfilter, and i was definitely impressed with that evil *** car! automatic or not!

GNO, I think it's easy to be consistent with a manual at the track. Just gotta watch your tach close and shift right. Last time I was at the track, I made it through three rounds of eliminations with my slow *** 1.6L 5speed. Got beaten by another Mazda after beating two civics, bracket, not heads up. Mp34ME, everytime I get in my moms car or my sisters car, I always try to push the clutch in to start the ****. Usually takes me a second to figure out why I can't push it in. Cuz there isn't one!

AUTOMATIC are good for bracket racing

Last time I was at the track a late model automatic camry was making a killing in the bracket race because it could almost hit it's dial in time every time it raced. Very consistant. You can't miss a gear when you simply put the car into drive. I don't think it's as fun or good for a circuit track, though. But automatics do have their advantages

Arent' most drag/funny cars automatics?

If you want sporty, get a car with manumatic (automatic with a clutchless manual up/down shift selector). Yes it's still an automatic at heart, but you now have some more interaction with the car. Manual transmissions will still be considered the most sporty for a long time because you get to control how the power is delivered to the ground, whereas automatics (the normal kind) don't have that kind of high level of flexablity.

how many people have driven a manumatic? i'm kinda curious about those things. are they decent?
