i went to a debate regarding the kyoto protocol last night. canada's on the verge of ratifying the agreement (against the wishes of industry and the provinces and without a plan to execute our commitments).

rather interesting. there were reps from industry, the provincial government, an environmental organization, and a neutral group.

the whole thing actually changed my view on the agreement to my surprise. it looks more and more like the whole thing is a big empty feel good circle jerk for the few country's left.

anyway, chances are, canada will ratify (chretien's legacy and all) with no chance of meeting the targets (just like the EU). it's all lip service from the government at this point.
