I cant help it. I have thought about it and I really don't have the kind of cash to put into this car to get it to the place the SRT is. I could sale the things off mine to get stuff for the SRT.
Plus the Austin crowd just don't do any thing. I have tryed several times to get people to meet but I haven't even had on person reply. It kinda makes it boaring!
I don't know may be I need to do something to get my mind back in to the car. It would help if there were a crowd around her to keep up the intrest.
IF there is let me know.

no real protege crowd here either...I kinda like it that way. Makes the 4-5 of us feel unique and special.

The SRT4's are good cars. Dodge did their homework. They are very fast.

yeah, boost pwnz jo0. Plus PVO used forged internals and a decent ecu map with tie large turbo. The styling leaves a lot to be disired though.

So true, but I can say Ive seen uglyer cars. I don't know, I had to hurry up to make a light yesterday and I can say I kit the turn hard enough to make me like it again! No way could my Z28 have done it, tires were talking but it stuck like glue.

The hole reason I got this was to pay it off and get my 71 stingray that I have dreamed about all my life! I think I just need some cash and a mod or two and I would be fine for now. Well have to see what kind of deals come out at years end.

Does any have my mods with Cams gears and header and Dynoed it yet? I would like to know the outcome.

If I didn't love the way my P5 looked and handled I would have already traded it in on something "faster".

Heh.

Seriously though, it's really hard to find large groups of Pros around...it's not like they are Foci or something

I like our protege group. Not the typical ricer bunch like with other sport compacts.

Hughes, how does 170-200whp for $2500 sound?!?!

Rodd, 200 that would be nice, I'm not gettin rid of my car! I like it to much, I just need to get over this slump. Plus I would wait fot that SUPER charger to be done first. Is that what you talking about. I went for a drive sunday and saw like 16 hondas, acuras and thought god every one has them. I do like being different.

Fair enough, but you act as though using a Neon as a starting point is a bad thing.

I've driven a SRT-4, and it is a lot of fun. It's way fast, well sorted out, yet is docile enough around town to be a comfortable daily driver. In addition to the great powertrain, there are other delights. The seats are heavily bolstered (in fact, just like the Viper). The gauges are clear and legible. A genuine Autometer boost gauge lives just above the cluster. And, there are no frills in the interior. The nose styling is functional. There is a big intercooler behind the facia that needs a lot of air to pass through its fins. And, best of all, there is a ton of attention from the major magazines and a level of aftermarket support that simply shames our Mazdas. The only cars that I would say play in the same league are the Evo and the Subaru WRX. But both of those command much higher prices (at minimum five grand more), in part due to the fact that both are AWD whereas the Dodge is fwd.

Another fun Chrysler alternative is the PT turbo. While not as fast as the SRT, it is about as quick as a MSP, offers a well crafted interior, handles well, and is a lot of fun to drive. Having spent some time behind the wheel of this one as well, I'd say that the PT Turbo oozes character in a way that few cars do. with the Turbo, finally the PT has genuine performance to back up its hot rod looks. You catch yourself grinning like a fool in that tall captain's chair, because you simply can't believe you are having this much fun in this tiny little bread van. To anyone thinking of buying a fwd turbo car, I suggest trying out one of these before making a decision. If it hadn't been my P5, I would have coughed up the extra dough to get me one of these. They kick ***. And, you can fit all your stuff in the cavernous interior.

Even a 2.0L NA Neon can be a lot of fun. I used to have a nice 2001 5-speed car, with full cat back, Altezzas, Konig wheels, AEM CAI, body color interior trim, custom aluminumm mesh grille, and other mods I won't bore you with here. It was inexpensive, handled decent, pretty fast, and the sound of that engine (with some mods) was beautiful and raspy.

I've seen a few 350+hp srt's on stock turbo.

the WOMP will make very nice power and should really level the playing field with anything else on the road today (within reason)

the pt cruiser oozes something alright....and it aint class! I wouldn't buy a dodge unless it was an SRT4. If I did buy one I wouldn't get those viper seats. They are way to uncomfortable for anything other than racing. ditch the spoiler, drop it at least 2", put a full cat-less exhaust on, replace the wastegate and you're looking at easily 300hp.

The Pt is love it or leave it... so I can respect differing opinions on this. I personally like them, but have to concede that several years of only slow NA cars on the market (and the fact that mostly older people drive the majority of them) means that there is a certain image associated with them. And, it ain't a "fast and furious" one. Get past that, though, and the turbo version is a lot of fun.

As for those SRT seats, I think the heavy bolstering is only going to be comfortable for people with slight, narrow frames. That'd be me, all 170 pounds of it. Even then, my **** does sort of feel snug in there.

I read an article about the seats, they are supposed to be bad for daily driving, but thats the price you pay for fun! Look at us, taking an 8k car (my trade in value) and already have over 2k in it (including the sound system). Would never get back what you put into it, but thats just one of the few down sides to our fun.
Im not to keen on the PT, I see alot of girls driving them. In order for me to get the SRT-4 I would have to get one hell of a deal. Plus if the WOMP is 2-3k I would save a ton of cash and get the same thing. I just want it a little faster, I am not a fan of racing FWD cars. With 300+ whp you can't do wheelies in one, yet the DPS 91 mustangs all you need is a goog h-pipe chip air 411 gears and wrinkle wall drags and watch out! Saw it at Little river. I cant get rid of the PRO, wouldn't be a good money choice. I just have to many wants and not enough means!!!
