Or should he just drive it like that? IMO there is one side to every story when it comes to getting the car fixed, and that is that if you "the customer" feels there is a problem then there is a problem. Period end of story. It doesnt matter what the dealer feels because it is their responsibility to take care of any problems that may occur with the car they sold. Im sure you take pride in the work you do and care for the customers you help. Im sure a lot of the younger crowed may sometimes **** you off with blind comments thrown out in general but realistcally he is having this problem and you dont know maybe the tech at the dealer he goes to is a slacker who doesnt care one bit for his job and just slides by everyday doing crappy work. Maybe the best thing you can do is instead of slamming him for what he says, help him with your Knowledge and make him change the way he talks about prople by setting a good example. Just my opinion...

I'm not saying he doesn't have a problem your right if the car is over heating then it is over heating. The only thing I'm saying is he shouldn't paint all tech with the same brush. I would love to help this guy but I'm in Edmonton so I can't do a lot from here. Here's what I would want to know. Is the car really over heating to the point coolant is boiling over or is the gauge just reading wrong, maybe there is a short in the wiring causing his gauge to read incorrectly, this car was hit, maybe the dealership is trying to find the wrong problem. If the car is overheating then I would want to know what parts where put into this car. like the other guy said aftermarket rad sometimes don't cool the same as a mazda rad, maybe the t-stat was installed backwards. It could be a lot of things with this car.

well hmm i dunno it happens everytime the theirs no air moving past the rad. IE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, Idleing on my driveway/Street

I REALLY DON"T KNOW IF IT IS OVER HEATING OR NOT???

the first time i wasn't expecting it. I started to smell something awful like anti freeze in DT calgary. i was like WTF its probably the truck beside me. Then i see white steam comming out from the sidelines of my hood grill , by the start of the windshield and wheel well, i look at my temperature gauge, its ¾ of the way to H, i shut my car off imediatly, throw in the occasional swares and curses. pop my hood open the reservoir is bubbling to a point it looks like its going to blow up (shaking like it has a seizure) antifreeze going all over the place the street now has green liquid all over the place, ppl around me are like WTF its a brand new car. then this happened 6 more times, i could only manage to save my car from bleeding antifreeze twice, i caught the temperature gauge passing half so i floored it and went 150kph, that tends to cool it down real fast. I took some pics 5th time it did it (got home just in time!) as you can see in 2 of the pics the reservoir is RIGHT full to the point its comming out. I dunno you think its over heating i think i shoulda let it idle for a couple mins longer to make sure?

Agreed!!! See now I respect you...Im a Corporate PC analyst and I also HATE when people paint everyone with the same brush but I just dont let it get to me because I expect it. Its a common occurance for me. To me it seems like the rad fan may not be comming on or maybe its blocked or the thermos bad

20FS also you may want to get a flash light and try to look at the radiator to make sure that they didnt user the old one because if the fins are all bent then it wont cool. just another thought

you are correct, but im not allowed to touch it or the whole warrenty thing is void and no one is going to fix anything so i'll just do with out a car, probably forever..

I'm not sure what your saying, is the fan not working? If so is the fan plugged in, if not plug it in that won't void any warranty.

I have to agree with a lot of other posters here. Take it to another dealership (or tell the body shop to take it to another dealership). One dealership technician is not equal to another; and one dealership is not equal to another. Request to have a Mazda Master Technician (if the dealership has any) to look at it.

However, I highly doubt Mazda would cover this under warranty. They would most likely charge you or the body shop for any repairs. The condition you are describing was not caused by Mazda's workmanship... it was caused by the accident and poor workmanship of the body shop and/or any other shop that worked on it... it is the responsibility of the body shop to get your car running correctly again. I would hound the body shop to get your car fixed... and until they do so, they need to provide you with a loaner or rental!

Is the other driver's insurance paying for the repairs? If so, call them and complain. Call your insurance company and complain. The body shop probably has a deal worked out with the insurance company and they could lose business if the insurance company is not happy with their work.

Good luck!

20FS,

Next time it overheats, you shouldn't turn the car right off. Pull over, shut the engine off, and then return the key to the "ON" position. Then, check that your main cooling fan is working. (The one on the right when looking at the car from the front.) If not, that's you problem. If it is working, just leave it on for awhile until it cools off.

I'll look in the shop manual this evening and see if I can find the probable causes and let you know.
