I got myself a copy of GT2 today at WalMart for $9.96 CAN brand new at a boxing day sale. $10 discount.

I popped it in the PS2, and turned it on and the graphics were hurting my eyes. Maybe because I play GT3 alsmot daily, and have something to compare it to. I remember playing it on the PS for the first time and it looked beautiful.

After some races, I got the Familia SWagon. Never drove it before when I played PS when I was young, because I didn't know anything about cars. But the model looked very real, despite having a almost lowered look stock, and the crappy graphics. But it was nice having the P5 (SWagon) beating a bunch of other cars. But then I got beat by a stock Mini.

Anyone still play this game? GT3 looks and plays better but I still like the amount of cars GT2 has to offer.

Now just need a PS memory card to save my data.

I actually started playing it again recently.. hahahaha

Gotta love all the Protegés in the game. I even have the stock version in there (109 hp) so I can see how my car would have held up against the others....

...graphics are horrible compared to current games, but hey.. it's a classic!!

best car ever had to be the porsh or well CTR2 or sumthing like that, get into the settings and lower it and tune the gears man that car would go, but first buy like the turbos and stuff and then tune it we got it faster than the esquedo car, there wasnt enoughf track to get top speed!

I think GT3 is better not because of graphics but because of control. The cars understeer much more like their real life counterpart, even high powered race cars with a MR layout.

That was something I didn't like about GT2 and Xbox's SegaGT2002. The cars oversteered alot. Even a stock 93 Honda Civic hatchback oversteered alot to the point it was almost a spin out on a hairpin using moderate throttle. To me that's just unrealistic. I like how they addressed this in GT3.

And the MAN, I did turn on the options to fast disc loading and graphics smoothing in the PS2 Playstation driver menu, but didn't notice too much of a difference. Must be too much GT3

Oh and I was surprised about the number of cars they put in GT2. Variety is good but then some cars they put in were just the cars you would not choose to go race. Cars like the Mitsubishi Mini Pajero, a cute-ute, BMW 740iL. etc. And they have a number of the same cars having different engines. Like the BMW 323i, 323ci, 328i. 328ci. Not to mention they have the Golf GTI in 1.8, 1.8T. 2.3V5 and 2.8V6, flavours. I mean its good to be able to have all this variety, while people with such cars in real life and drive their car in the game. But I think it turns to focus away from the racing to the cars.

Use simulation tires and you wont have that problem! You'll have some serious understeer

Does anyone think any racing game out there that is better and more realistic then GT3? Sega GT2002 looks like the closest.

That's a great game, it's soon coming out for PS2. But after playing it several times I notice it sometimes is kinda unrealistic, like when you bump into something and the car only loses a bit of speed, and how a Civic hatchback smoked me uphill when I was in a RX-7. Maybe the Civic was tuned? The steering was great, since the turns corresponded to a real life counterpart.

Does anyone play BattleGear2? BG3 is out, and the graphics look even better than Initial D's, can't wait!

How did your PS2 break?

I got mine for about 2 months now. Haven't modified yet since I want to warranty to expire first. My friends modded his PS2 himself, the same model as mine 39001R

Some models are more easily modified than others.

About Initial D, I do agree that the acceleration isn't real. Like you said too long to redline.

What's the SW20 btw? I don't play Initial D much since it's expensive @ 2 per game. I usually play BG2 more.

Hahaha yes it kind of does, but then the frustration comes along when you have to turn the car to face forward again or drive achingly slow on the sand or grass to get back on track.

Are there any good (realistic) racing or car games/programs for the PC? I am a Flight Simulator freak and was thinking about getting the Force Feedback steering wheel control with a good game.
