Hey whats up ya'll i just have to say I love the site. My dad is a 25+ year Mazda mechanic. He believes that the first geration Protege Lx w. the 1.8L DOHC is one of the best if not the best cars Mazda has ever produced(so do I). But I ended up w/ a 1st gen. Mx6 ('91 w/ 2.2L 12v SOHC) I love it, but a Protege' would have been nice. I just want to say congrads to all you people here w. pimped out Protege's . Hopefully I will be able to post some pics of my car and ya'll could tell me what ya'll think. Also I figured that some of ya'll could tell me where to look for performance parts, I know of www.nopi.com, and www.corksport.com but these are the only 2 that carry a good amount of parts for resonable price. any info and feed back would be nice. by the way this is my first post!

Hey thanks bro, nice post! I for one would like to see pics of it, the 1st gen MX6 has a similar overal shape to the Protege, almost a 2 door version....

I remember a friend of a friend just bought a new 88 i think, with the turbo engine, also had a turbo 626 hatch, same year might have been AWD too. I think the years are right, might have been an 89 or 90....as mine is a 90 Pro, i only started to know Mazdas from then on.....anyways, fast cars with some tweaking. The 626 was nicely tuned

1st gen MX6

I had a MX6 2.2 as my first car and sort of miss the feel of the engine compared to the P5 I have....Enjoy it!!!! Make sure to change that timing belt...

One of my ex's had a MX-6 GT. It was a nice, speedy car. I was going to buy it from her, but I already had my car, and it had pretty high miles on it.

Don't worry, us protege guys love all mazda's, and if we can answer your questions, we will

You know what? I had a 90 LX protege and for some reason i miss the feel of the car. But I still love my Protege. I guess i just expected a bit more from mazda in the power department. But i would have to say the protege is one of the best in it's class and that's why I stuck with it.
