i got a promotion!

yay. i've been working at Party City for a couple years now as the Receiving Manager. so, i've been waiting for an assistant manager position to open up, so i could move up into it. and tonight, my boss calls me and tells me congratulations, you start on sunday. so next week, i'll be a manager at my job. only 21 and making $30K a year. i know to some thats not much, but i think it's a good accomplishment considering i didn't go to college or anything after high school. i just wanted to share this with everyone, because i'm psyched about it.

Hey man congrats. About 3 months ago I got promoted to Assistant Manager at Quiksilver, and am now making 28,000 per year, and I am only 19. First paycheck I got, I took and blew it on some audio **** for my car, and some other goodies! So my advice, spend some of that cash and enjoy it. Good luck though.

Thanks everyone! I'm really happy. I can pay off a couple bills, and yes... more car mods! my suspension is getting a makeover first, then the turbo if Braden finishes the 1.6l setup.

Congratz on the raise and the promotion. I find sometimes that the new job is as nice as more money.

I don't think you should measure by going to college or not. Your position is a good one with or without a degree. I have lots of friends from university who would love to be in your shoes!

Congrats again and keep climbing that ladder!

Have fun because one day a big wig is gonna come down and see that you don't have a degree and end your fun.
Get a Degree even if it's in praire dogs or something easy. As long as you have it.

only if the ladder you intend to climb REQUIRES ONE....the path I took didn't...and I am just tickled pink. Will in eventually limit my upward mobility in the company? yes it will....BUT....I am happy as a pig in slop right where I am now.....one more position up the ladder from where I am now and your job becomes someone TRANSIATE.....the LONGEST a manager has lasted here is 5 years...then they replace him....and they end up in some other job doing something else....I love what I do...I don't want to end up getting moved off into some other department doing something I don't like.....after working in this part of the industry for 25 years you get sorta comfy with your job.....I plan on staying RIGHT where I am.... :{D

hehe congrats dude, 30k a year aint bad for your age, if i stayed at one job consistantly i probably make about 18-20k a year (rough estimate by my dad the other day)..... so i know how it is!

the money is nice!

everyone says money cant make you happy, but it sure makes life easier...imo
