I'm a hardcore geek... (a geek is a nerd WITH social skills)

I've been programming for a living for 6 years.. programming for fun since I was 5 (basic at 5.. assembler at 6.. yes.. I was a strange child )... and I dabble in server/network admin and hardware both for fun and in my career.. been hanging around the net for 10 years..

Back in the day.. being a geek/nerd wasn't cool.. and now all you people who teased us have electronic bank accounts... bwahahaha ..

I suppose you could consider me a computer geek, everyone else seems to make the generalization. My gf/fiance/wife or whatever she is always denies it.. it's called, well, denial.

here's my setup, I think it speaks for itself as to my geekness...

P4 2.6ghz clocked to 3.1ghz, case temp currently is 86F... don't ask

My apartment is a hive of multimedia and computer systems, 3 desktops, 2 laptops (both from work, which is what I'm using right now), and everything is tied into my theater setup.

Booya.. I'll get back to programming now.

Just to point out something to non-geeks.. the cpu speed/cooling system/etc actually has nothing to do with iibbmm's geekness level.. but immediately the veteran geeks know he is one of us.. how you may ask? the case is not completely on the computer (first pic)..

SO, basically what we are saying is with our combined resources, we can take over the world, start a kick a$$ e biz company so we can design and manufacture our own custom mods, BUT still have social live and be really really cool.

More coffee, yea , yeaaaaaaaaa, coooofffeee

HAH! That's a damned good point. my case is NEEEVER on the computer... well... except when i took the second pic, which is older (you can tell by the lack of paint on the drives).

Thats also why my computer is on the desk, as opposed to below it, easy access.

here's a fun (for a geek) game... name every computer you have owned, if you've upgraded processors, include any you have had as seperate systems :

Desktops :
Apple IIe
IBM 286
Dell 386sx
Compaq 486dx
Frys P133
IBM P200
Home Built Celeron466
Dell PII 450
Home Built PIII 700
Home Built PIII 800
Home Built P4 1.6
Home Built P4 2.6

Laptops :
Toshiba Sat P120
Dell latitude PII450
Dell latitude P4 1.4

PDAs :
Sharp Zaraus 2mb (folded like a laptop, had a huge backlit screen, full keyboard and a PCMCIA slot)
Palm 500 or something, really long time ago
Handspring Visor Delux
Handspring Visor Prizm
Handspring Treo
Sony Clie NR70v

Lucky me I am the one that has to train all the new people on the computer programs....ugh and I really hate doing that!
I just get to fix everyones computer and show them how to use their mouse. and no, i'm not in the IT department.

My workspace is fairly clean, I used to have some 1:18 cars in my office, but I like them better at home over my fireplace.

I'm a geek, but I guess not quite so much as my competition. I'm definately a bevy of computer knowledge though. I'm an IT Technician for my local government (county level civil service). Right now I do lot's of hardware, network, and user support, and they're trying to get me into database design/administration. Fun stuff.

Been bbsing/interneting since the days of 2400 baud (remember when a game on 3 floppies used to take hours to download? )

Past machines - haven't owned that many and I can't remember the initial model#s, but here they are

couple tandy systems
