That's because it shares the same mass produced door panel with the Protege5. Those have speakers in there and do not have the speakers you have mounted to your rear deck.
If thats the case, why does my 2000 ES have the fake speaker grilles on the back doors? The P5 came out in 2002, so I dont think they designed the door panels for a model that wasnt even in production at the time yet?

zerocover -As far as the hubcaps, who gives a crap how many fake lugnuts there are? The real question would appear to be considering that it took you that long to figure out that those werent the actual lugnuts, how ghetto are you....

The "P5" was out a lot longer before that in other countries, so they were just keeping parts cost down by not making too many different door panels.

And I would be pissed to find out my 5-lug looking wheels were only 4-lug. Luckily I don't have to worry about that.

yeah if you took off the hub cap lug nuts thinking it was the real one, that's pretty darn good hubcap if you ask me.
I'm just playing.
I mean when it comes to hubcaps, it doesn't really matter if it is 4 or 5 lugged. It's for looks and 5 lugs does look better anyway.

Exactly. I still can not understand why one would be upset that their hubcaps have 5 fake lugnuts, and the wheel actually only has 4.

Can someone plese explain to me exactly what it is about this that upsets you?

Do you feel like you got ripped off because you thought your car had 5 lugnuts to find out later it only had 4? Do you think 5 real lug nuts is better than 4 lug nuts?

WHY?? If the car has 4 lugnuts and the hubcap looks better with 5 fake ones, why would that **** you off?

5-lugs would be better than four, just like 3 nails is better than 2, 10 screws is better than 9. There is more holding the wheel on there, plus it looks better when you replace the POS steel wheels with some nice alloys.

But that is very "ghetto" of Mazda to say that the 5-lug pattern looks better, by virtue of putting it on the cover, and then putting a cheap *** 4-lug pattern underneath.

I disagree. I have seen cars making 500 HP and running the 1/4 mile in mid 10 second range with 4 lugnuts holding the wheels on.

5 is not better than 4. If 4 does the job just fine, 5 is a waste.

If Mazda can keep the price of the car lower to appeal to people like us by not wasting money on an additional, unnessesary lugnut on each wheel, and decides if they have to try to make an ugly hubcap look appealing, so they put 5 lugs on it, I see them as doing everything logically, and nothing ghetto about it.

Oh well, different viewpoints entirely. Im really surprised to see your view point, thats why I was asking about it.

That is what I will be doing
adding speakers back there
but you need an amp too, so it might be an investment
but if you already have it, then, you just plug it in....I think

but seriously, who cares if there is a speaker or not
the two stock speakers produce enough music
and I just added tweeter/subs, and damn, this think rocks
only need an amp now
