it's not too bad, every enclosed building has AC and we had water out the ying-yang.
i have trouble with extreme heat but i only got sun-stroke once working last time. not counting the vicious sun-burn i got when i went snorkelling.
i can't wait to snorkel again. the red sea kicks ***!!

i'll be working in yanbu, ~300km north of jeddah along the coast.
we took a little boat way out of sight of the shore and snorkelled around a reef. just amazing. all i had was a little disposable camera but i got some great pictures.

If u are in need of beverages of the illegal kind, do like we did:
15 litres of grape juice
1/2 cup of yeast
4 cups of glucose
mix in a platic garbage pail
let sit for 4-6 weeks (don't mind the smell)
Filter into Jerry Cans (used for fuel)
and enjoy
Makes for a good paint stripper too...

i've heard the stories of the guys that were stationed there on long-term jobs getting into the home made hooch.
apparently, behind closed doors, the saudis get into the cid (moonshine essentially) quite a bit too. but shhhh, that's on the low down.
yanbu itself is pretty dirty and dusty, but the royal commission (what used to be the ex-pat compound) by all the petroleum facilities is beautiful.

It was about -25 or so today, here in Lindsay today, thats with wind. I think last night though, the low was around minus 30 or 35. Not bad but cold enough for me. I still think its the right weather for cold beer.

Our weather has been extremely warm this year. A couple of days ago it was above freezing. Its about 10 F (-12 C) out right now. Usually around this time of year it is -20 F (-29 C)or more. The coldest weather I can remember in Alaska was -40 F. I'm sure sometime in the next month we will get screwed over with -20 weather.
