Stanford has a distrubuted computing project Called Folding @ home.
Full info on what it is and what they are trying to accomplish can be found here
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandeg...g/science.html
Here is info on our Team

Our goal for a year now has been to pass the Mustangworld team, We are geting close but have not overtaken them just yet.
And help from the users here sure would be nice
To get the program go here

Use the Team # of 39215
And make up any User name you want. Or Add _Mazda3 to the name and we will know that you are from this forum.
That is all there is to it.

What is going on is that each person and team use there computers to do work for stanford. For the work you are given points, The points add up per user name and per team. So a team can be 3 but they have 400 computers working or 3 people with 3 computers. I currently have 31 computers working for me.
We are trying to pass the mustangclub in points, making the mazda group the highest ranked car group in the project.

I'm not sure if this is what I'm thinking it is, but I'll explain it as best I can.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is basically a project that uses personal computers to do computing work for Stanford. SETI had a similair program (possibly still does) where they would send you a block of raw information, and whenever your computer went idle, it would proccess the info, send that block back, and the system would automatically send you new raw data.

That is correct, It is some what like SETI.
They call the data blocks "Work Units" and you get XX points per work unit.
