Post Hello...New guy on deck.

Hello all....
I have been visiting this board for some time...but now I have decided to join the ranks I bought my P5 in August...before that I owned a white Mitsubishi Galant VR-4. For those of you that have never heard of this Galant...its a 2.0 AWD Turbo w/4WS. I spent much of my time on this car and as a result have learned alot about Turbo cars. I would like to transfer this knowledge to my Mazda...and hopefully learn more about the FS engines along the way. I look forward to sharing ideas with all.

I know this is a Protege page...but if you would like to check out my VR4 here is th web address...Im quite proud of her (she runs low 13's)

as I recall from when I test drove one of them many moons ago that is indeed the case... it is not the case that they turn to allow a really tight radius (i.e. parking maneuver), but when the car is at speed they turn a little in the same direction as the front wheels... it had something to do with high speed dynamics that was way over my head.

I am sure that Peter will fill us in with more...

BTW, what "serial" number is it? if I recall all of them were limited production and numberd!

Thumbs up What are the odds

Yep...In 1991 there were 2000 imported to the US and in 1992 there were only 1000 imported. Mine was 0776/2000.

Yes...all four wheels do turn. The FWS only activates when the car reaches 45MPH+. So around town you only have the fronts steering (unless you are a lead foot ) The AWD however makes u-turns and manuvering around town excellent. Mitsubishi really did a fantastic job with these cars...and the 4G63 is bulletproof! Mine is going on 166,000 miles...original engine & runs 13's! Most GVR4 owners will testify to similar experiences.

TheMAN:
You were on that webpage??? How did you find it? I only got on that page because I was trying to set up a GFORCE club here in CA. I am glad to hear that there are some knowledgeable folks posting here...MOST people would look at my Galant and say..."what the hell is that?" or...."is that a Chevy?" especially the cocky Honda crowd...until they got smoked by 5-6 carlengths

Sweeeet!!! Another boost junkie

That Galant is nice. Still have it? I was looking at DSMs before my last two car purchases. I couldn't stand the a-holes working at my local dealership, so I didn't even test drive.

You guys are great!

Thanks for all the complements guys! I sold her a few days ago to a good friend of mine so now he is the LEGAL owner...but we all still know who's car she really is Luckily he is my friend...so, she will stay in my circle of vision....but the funny part is that five of my other friends have GVR4's too and they are always asking my help and advice on mods/repairs...so I end up being involved with same car even though I dont have mine anymore.

Most Mistubishi dealerships are punks...The DSM crowd callsthe dealership "SATAN" So...if you were to talk to a DSMer and say :"I got my parts from Satan"...they would know exactly what you meant.

You might find Mazda dealerships aren't much better.
