Funny Software Error
True Story:
Today at work I found out about an error that creeped into our data for parts counter operations. The manufacturer provides this data so our company is not responsible for it, but we make the software that helps finds the parts and inserts them into the repair order or parts invoice. The other day a customer at a dealership needed a specific part for their vehicle. The service advisor looked up the part, was about to turn the monitor around to show the customer the price and information, and then noticed in the comments the words "DICK HEAD". He had to turn the monitor away real quick so the customer would not see it. Pretty much the event of the year at work now with the complaint being passed around every department. The bad part is that we are contractually obligated NOT to change the manufacturer's data. So we are stuck with "DICK HEAD" (I don't think this part is used very much) until the manufacturer gets off their *** and fixes it.
BTW... the dealership that this happened at does not think this is very funny, they are seriously pissed at us no matter how much we explain it was not our fault and we can do nothing about it.
