Enthusia > GT4
I bought GT4 when it first came out and have been sorely dissappointed in it. I've even thought about ditching the ps2 all together instead of dealing with it but tonight I rented "Enthusia" by Konami and I have to say that GT4 has been de-throned. Enthusia is a GREAT game. It's not as graphically pretty as GT4 nor does it have the car collection but it does have some AWESOME features.
200 authentic cars from all times.
only 2 authentic tracks. The rest are city courses or rally. There is actually a RANDOMLY created desert course so it changes everytime. VERY COOL. There is NO MONEY in the game. You start the game with 12 cars to choose from. Get in the car of your choice (mine is the Cosmo Sport 12A). Points are araded based on how smoothly you drive and how well you avoid other cars and the barriers. They also place a bet on your car based on it's specs and your competitors. Sometimes you'll race and the odds of you winning will be 4:1 so if you win you get 4X's the total number of points you earn. Sometimes the odds are against you....I just raced an 11:1 race and got my butt handed to me. Had I won I would've jumped up 2 skill levels.
There are no indiviual upgrades to do to your car. You have 3 basic catagories, Weight, power and tires. These are further broken down in to a few sub-catagories...mostly dealing with suspension adjustments. The better you drive the more the computer upgrades your car. You have a scale of 0-10 starting at 0 and you earn "upgrades" which are automatically applied. As of now I'm at level 8 with my Cosmo so it's almost maxxed out.
I've been racing the same course over and over and don't think it gets any easier the more you race. Each time you select a track the computer takes into account your upgrades and skill level and chooses all new cars for you to race. You may start off racing a Nissan Cube or a Scion xB in your first race but stay on that track and you'll find yourself against ITR's, 73 Camaro's, S15's real quick. This keeps the challenge ALWAYS there but never impossible. The difficulty level is about as perfect as I've ever seen in a racing game.
If you're dissappointed with GT4 I suggest trading it immediatly and purchasing Enthusia....dont bother renting it, it's worth it. If you're undecided rent it, but I'm in love.
