Does the word/term dating infer exclusivity?

Yes or No...

A friend and I are having a debate on this. Just looking for your comments.

No, but after a while it should become exclusive. Saying you're "dating" someone doesn't inheirently mean exclusivity, however, saying someone is your "b/f, g/f, fiancee, husband or wife" should!

yes. when ur "dating", ur referring to an on-going union.
when u date, that's just a singular action with no ties.

all in reference.

I agree with onehawaiian. If you say me and so n so are dating it means continuous, which can lead into being exclusive. Unless you tell your bf/gf first that we will date, but not be exclusive, then dating or seeing someone means just that. Just ONE.

Hmmm...I just tied it up.

To most people, dating means that you're free to see anyone you'd like, but to me it means that I'm with one person.
