Digital Camera
What kind of digital camera is everybody using? I'm looking for a new one. I have a Fuji with 1.8 MP. I see some amazing pictures on here and i'm just wondering what your using. Thanks.

Had a Canon Power shot A40. It was 2.1mp with every manual option. But Now I have an A70 which is a 3.2 version that lets me make 640x480 movies as well as all the manual options for trick photography. Bought for $320

I've had 3 cams...
An HP 318: 2.1 megapixels. I never liked the quality of its pictures. Either the colors were somewhat washed out or the images were slightly out of focus.
Fuji Finepix 2650: 2.1 megapixels. 3x optical zoom, small but thick body, uses 2 AA batteries that seem to last forever. Very good daylight picture quality and color saturation.
Now I am using a Fuji Finepix 3800: 3.2 megapixels. 6x optical zoom, can use 55mm filters, excelent daylight picture quality, lots of accesories, some settings can be manually set.
The Fujis will not properly focus dimly lit objects and sensitivity is equivalent to ASA 100. Other than that, I'm very pleased with them.

I recently upgraded but use both of the cameras I have quite a lot.
I have a Canon Powershot S300 (2.1MP, 3x optical zoom) which I still use when ever I am going somewhere I do not want to lug the camera bag. Fits in your pocket, takes great outdoor pics and is very versatile. Low light photography (without a tripod) can be a hassle.
Now for most photogrpahy I use a Minolta Dimage 7Hi (5MP, 7x optical). I love this camera and how fast it can take pics. The camera excells at pictures of stuff that is moving (I like to take pics of trains). It does great in low light too... only thing is that it is pricey. This thing is also a battery hog, but as it uses NiMh "AA" batteries I can easily have extra sets on hand.

If you can afford it, Look for a Canon G3/G4...They do AMAZING work...
I happen to use an el-cheapo Fuji Finepix 2300...2 Mega Pixels...it does okay...
Couple examples:

keep in mind, the originals are MUCH better - these have been optimized for the web.

I have got FujiFilm FinePix A200 2.0MP with 2.5 digital zoom. I love it, because it is small, only uses two alkaline batteries, takes awesome pictures day or night. The most fun I ever had for $130.

Nikon Coolpix 5700. 8X (35mm-280mm) Zoom, 5mp. I love this thing. The only challenge is low light focus, but with some experimentation this is workable. Why Nikon didn't include an auto focus assist lamp is beyond me.
This is about as close to SLR as you can get with out it actually being one.
This picture is straight out of the camera, except that it is cropped. Was taken at full zoom, Shutter priotiety mode (1/125sec) on a tripod. I've take pretty much the same picture handheld, with similar results.
Check out www.dpreview.com for reviews.
Canon G4? Does that actually exist?

I use a Sony s-85 4.0 megapixel ....
has all the features .. manual aperature and shutter priority ,
movie features -- can take as long as the memory card you have
anyway ,, here is an example resized
and here is the same pic in original state
I also have a Cannon Ellan2e .. with a 28-70 35mm...
I am looking at this point for a good 70-210 or simillar focal length
Here are some photo's taken with the Cannon that I sent to ofoto.com to develop
this is Alkatraz with my 70-210 and 1.5x extender ...
this is the bridge that I wanted to see all my life.. I always saw it on tv and what not ... next time I am driving over it ..

Got the sony P8 3.2 MP two weeks ago and love it. 3x opt zoom, small and great features. almost got the P7 but wanted the lithium rechargable battery and P8 is smaller then the P7. both have similar features. spent almost $650 with camera, two 128 MB cards, extra battery, case and 4 year service plan at Best Buy. i got the 24 month zero % financing plan (2 years). This was the first and maybe only time they will offer this the sales-man told me. usually it is 6-12 months. also get $50 gift card from best buy in 4-8 weeks.
very happy with camera and love the payment plan through BB.
was told to get a sony from a friend who has had one for over a year and I am happy i bought one.
i also used circuit city customer reviews and other sites before purchasing one. they liked sony's.
