Depressed???
What do you guys do to make yourselves feel better? I'm feeling really down last few weeks even though I just hooked up with a really nice girl. Besides that and my car, there's nothing really else that's going right...
I sometimes go for ice-cream, but it doesn't help all the time

one thing that I have found NOT to do .... and that is to spend time ALONE.....you tend to think to much about the things that are getting you down.
SO, what I do, and highly suggest for you....is to spend more time with the people that you truely care about in life..and care about you. Be that your girlfriend, your parents, brothers and sisters, wives...family....friends....whom ever.....OR doing the things you really love.....be that sprots, or tinkering on cars, or just whatever.....OR even better....put the two together, and do the things you love WITH the ones you love. It will put your mind on the GOOD things in your life....and the other things will fade.

What Sir Nuke said
I usually go out for a drive..just a little ways out of town. You know..something to keep your mind off of things and focus on the road. I ride my mountain bike...the feeling of the wind rush by me. Trees flying past me, and just the sound of just me on the trails. I also go outside in my yard and just do some martial arts. Do some forms to keep my mind focused and relaxed. Yes, even in winter. The quick way I find to remedy my worries is to spend a little money. It's bad if you get into habit but something new around the house will keep you occupied.

I've been finding myself in the same situation a lot lately. While my life is pretty good, it's currently pretty lonely. I moved out a few months ago, and live about an hour from all of my real good friends. Sure, I have friends at work, but they're all married and have kids (and I'm 20! hehehe). I broke up with my girlfriend of two years a few months ago, and I'm finding it tough to meet new people.
I do find it really helpful though to go out with a few friends, that takes my mind off a lot. A lot of people have different ways of coping with depression, I find that friends are the best way to go for me, they'll always be there for you

well I'm 17 and I don't really get down allot, hehe, I'm happy most of the time, until it comes to my dad ha, he's pretty much one of those guys that don't give a **** for me, and treats me like ****, I know he loves me and all, but you know, he doesn't show it at all.
So at those rare times that I'm felling low, going out with a bunch of friends works allot of the time, or the thing that really works for me is driving. but by driving I don't mean just cruising around, that won't help me, for me to get cheered up from driving, it would have to be me pushing the car to its limits. that would cheer me up, or when I am with a group of friends, us racing around is also fun. but i wouldn't reccomend my way of cheering up, cuz it can also be really bad, if an accident or something occurs, which would most likely get you more depressed.
But i hope all the best man, hope you do find a way of cheering up

My ultimate way to blow off steam used to be to wail away on the drumset I had when I rented a house with friends, or turn the half-stack up to obnoxious levels and just blow my ears out with my Ibanez for a while. Nowadays, I usually pick up the acoustic guitar (don't have the big-*** amp anymore) and maybe do some singing.
Music has always been a salvation of mine.
If you're not so inclined, hanging with friends always works. Go get a few beers, and have a few laughs. Stay out all night if you can - keeps you from being alone, even if for just that one night.
And dude - go bang that new chick! That oughtta make you feel better. Getting laid (especially with a new girl) makes the worst day a little better for sure.

Like you guys said, driving works... today I first took my dad's old car for a bit and then driving in my car again put a big smile on my face
foxxy, I do make her smile, and scream as a matter of fact hehe, she gets the 'good' treatment if ya know what I mean hihosilva, I think I'll get her to stay over tonite again.... but novelty's wearing off.....
funk, if you try and find someone, it never works, you just gotta play along and it all works out in the end.
Guju, I don't wanna ruin the excellent production over at www.goonish.com hehe even though I was a goon of the month and will most likely be the GOTY
I do have tons of people that I have to call but I seriously don't have time to be with most of them, so I mean it's not like I don't have people to hang out with, it's just that school is really not taking me anywhere, my mom is really sick, and the Vancouver weather doesn't help (cloudy or raining everyday...)
Thanks guys, I think I'll call up some people and go for a Corona, or six....
PS. 91DX, what martial arts? I used to take karate for 4 years a while ago though.....

pfft feelings whats those. I put up with feeling bad a long time ago. dont get you any where in life. if your not happy with school maybe you should rethink if its what you want to be doing. Or are you just doing b/c you thought thats what you should do. Start naming they things that you have. not the things you dont have. set smaller goals. you can always increase them.
So, pull your head outta your *** and get over it...
Hang in there man

When I get depressed it is usually at night and I go on a long drive (70 miles or so) down this 2 lane road and just listen to music and think about things. And I usually only drive 50mph on these drives so I don't have to worry about speeding tickets. By the time I get back I usually feel pretty good.
This works for me because when I'm down I usually want to be alone and I still live with my parents and sister. So driving gets me away from everybody. Plus the road I drive has almost 0 cars. I will probably see 15 or so during my 70 mile drive. I have tried other roads around where I live and most have lots of cars and its just not the same for some reason.

This is deep. It makes me think about how this club really cares. Most of us haven't even seen each other before and are here giving helpful caring advice. Its like a family you never knew you had.
Sorry for the small break in topic, but reading this just had me thinking.
