Damn Mazda Employees

Ok, to make a long story short, I took my car into Sunridge Mazda to have my Eurolite Underglow installed. I used to work there, and one of my buddies was doing the install for me after he got off shift. So, I paid for the lights, then paid him privately, turned off my alarm, and then gave him the keys. Without sounding like a *****, I would have to say that I've got the most modded P5 in Calgary. Most of the guys down there know the car. Anyways, I forgot to tell him something, and went back to talk to him. He was in the john at the time, but what did I see? About 6 or 7 guys all up in my ****! 2 were under the hood, 3 were inside checking out the interior, one was looking at the exhaust, and another was checking the rims and calipers. I damn near **** myself! I couldn't believe it! One guy, Jerry, (supposedly the #1 Mazda Master Technician in the world sys his plaque) was all like "Oh, you have an actual Cold Air Intake, not a fake one." To that I replied rather arrogantly, "Yes... You're point?" And proceeded to show him my knowledge of the car. He then continued to tell me that I voided my warantee, and wondered how come I never come in for regular maintenence. I snapped back with "When I come back here, and see half a dozen people scratching the **** out of my paint, cranking my system and tinkering with my engine, that REALLY makes me want to bring the car here. Besides, I have a 4 post lift at home where I do all my own regular maintenence."

He was shocked at best, and after that proceeded to pluck the guys from my car. My buddy returned from the can, and began the install, but I was weary leaving again.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. Even from when I worked there I was concerned about what I had witnessed done to a few cars in for service. It didn't surprise me when the MP3's were taken on a regular bagging session, or when the supercharged Miata's had the **** revved out of them...

Not trying to really worry anyone here, but I just wanted to vent my frustrations.

**** man..Thx for the heads up though. I wouldn't doubt them taking anyone's car for a cruise or just running the **** out of them. People should have more decency than that and respect other's property. Luckily I don't have to worry bout my car since it's pretty old.

Which part of Calgary u from anyways? I never see your car around in the deep south.

Well, if they were seriously messing up your paint or something that would totally suck, but I know I'd gawk at any nice car that came into my garage, even if it's "wrong".

I would be pissed. From some of the stories I ve been hearing lately, it look like you cant trust alot of people these days. Now, i am comcerned about having my car maintained by the dealership or if i should jus do it my self.

You would be suprised at the liberties dealers take with your cars. I just picked mine up from Ocean Mazda in Miami for minor service. They took it upon themselves to remove and discard my license plate frame and replace it with one of theirs to advertise their dealer. They promply changed it out when called on it...

You would be surprized at the shiat that people do to your car when you take it in. I have worked at alot of shops in california and Arizona and have taken small parts in even taking small trinkets as referred to me the first time I saw it happen, sure it was only a little toy from a car that the kid did not miss that was lodged in the seat. but it was still the fact that people take stuff all the time from our cars,
I went to the car wash with my system going and turned it off once I got in line the guy came up looked around in the car and was eyeballing all the stuff, I nonshalantly walked off and noticed from a distance that they were vacuming the carpets and opening the glove box. Who knows what info they got my street address?? Hehe never have the correct address in the glove box anyway! Then once they got to the actual wash part on the automatic conveyor thing one guy rides thru the wash in my car (does not happen at this place ever before) and starts cranking up my stereo! I could hear it over the dryers the washers the spraying water and all!!!!!!!! I was pissed not only that the guy turned it on some mexi channel .
Long story short it happens all the time when your not looking and or the place is closed people are curious.

So you build a car in order to attract attention, then when it does attract attention and people actually look at your car, you get upset?

Ok.

there's the double-edged sword of having a high-profile car. you get the attention...... but you get keyed and such.

but these guys were really just looking at it. they're car guys. come on.

Yes, you build a car for attention somewhat, but you also want to be somewhat in control of when it gets kinds of "hands on" attention. I know that when I go places liek the dealership or carwashes, to lock everything away, even take the removeable faceplate with me.

Yes, I do build my car to attract some degree of attantion, but Rider69 is right. I don't like it getting "hands on" attention. Hence the perimiter alarm. Look but don't touch.

And Gro Harlem, I didn't do the install myself due to time, and the fact that my Dad can't know that they're on the car! I come home from school, go straight to work, then come home and go to bed. I'm in bed by 10 most nights... I just feel so drained... I'm going to spend some time with my girlfriend just tidying up the wiring and such on Friday.

Invincibleredp5, I myself work at a major car dealership, and I respect everything on the lot. I always put myself into the customer's shoes. "How would I feel if this were my vehicle" is kind of like my motto. As long as you keep that in mind, all is well.

Thats the main reason why I dont bring my car into the shop unless I "have to". I do all my regular maintance myself.
