Don't worry about making sense dude, I've learned almost all of the DVD ripping terminology in my experiments. It just seems like I can't find a program that will do everything right for me. If my video isn't distorted then it looks like crap. If it doesn't look like crap then the audio doesn't match up, or doesn't work. I am at my wit's end. I've tried FLASKMpeg, Xmpeg, DivX Pro, DVD 123, AVB, mp3 codecs, and DivX bundles, it seems like no matter what I do, I'm one step away from a perfect conversion.

Can someone walk me through this that has actually succesfully done this? This way if I have some questions, someone with some knowhow can answer right away, instead of hunting around on some pointless how-to?

I've given up on my own, after 3 all nighters trying to figure out what's goin' on. Also, those of you who've tried it, it's a pretty @#$ long process to be experimenting with. Everytime to change something you have to wait another 6 hours to see if it worked. HELP ME, I'M LOST!!!!!!

I think the best way would be to do one section of a movie. Take a 10 second clip of a movie and convert that into divx. Then if it's successful, then keep your settings and config and rip away

91 dx, which program did you use in your successful conversions? I've tried just about all of them, and some had me use small clips of movies, but no success with that method....

Even with current DVD burners you can only get 4.7Gb of data on them. Most current DVD movies run up to 8Gb of data. vcd help is the best source for info.

I've been quite successful with DVD2SVCD, a program you can get on that site. It's the most dummy-proof program I've seen. It'll rip, convert audio, and encode the movie and create either 2 or 3 CD images that you can burn straight off to regular CD's. Quality is VG IMO. In the case that you have a DVD burner then you can usually get two full length movies on a DVD.

my 2cents...

If you convert to Divx you should have no problem. If you convert to svcd you should have no problem. Use dvd to cd ripping guides at vcdhelper.com I have burned many a dvd with no problems using the guides.

For an encoder you guys should try Cinema Craft too. Wicked product. Simple yet you can get into it with some command line switches.

Try here for a trial... then you can crack it... Whoops did I say that... I mean buy it. Ya for like 3 grand...
