CGI on website

I wanna to make available to my webpage visitors to send me pictures of their rides, but some people use hotmail, yahoo, etc and it wouldn't permit me to make a simple form with a "mailto" link. So I'm guessing I have to use a CGI script. I don't know how to use CGI and not to clear on setting it up. I DO know that there is a website where there are a lot of CGI scripts available but there are Pearl versiong and C+ etc. I don't know anything about these. My main thing is HTML.

It's kinda of a long form. I can make the form I just need the script that'll take the info and send it to my e-mail along with the attached picture(s). Can anyone help me?

The biggest deal with CGI is your ISP has to allow you to run CGI on their server. Ask your ISP what kind of server side extensions they allow you to use and then I can help you get a script together if you want (not very many people use CGI anymore).

PHP is what you're looking for and if your hosting provider supports it, I can most definitely write you the simple script that you require. Get back to me.

Their FAQ looks a little outdated but yes my read on that is that you will need to use CGI. Whether you can actually give them your own script or have to use one of theirs is the question. You should look at the different scripts they provide and see if one works for you (very likely this exists, common need on HTTP sites). Otherwise ask them about uploading one to their server. Some places still do it, but most will not. CGI scripts can pose a severe security risk to the server hosting them.
