Canadians: CanTire teams up with DriverFX.ca

Maybe this is old news, but it was new to me. Apparently CanTire has "teamed" up with Driverfx.ca.
Here's a link to the Driverfx website:

http://www.driverfx.com/affiliate/df...bmLocale=en_CA

Anybody know about DriverFX? Are they any good, etc.? The details for some of the parts aren't too good...ie. "Toucan Mazda Protege Intake Sys", but it doesn't say for what year Pro, or what kind of intake (ie. short ram, CAI, etc.).

The box for my Ractive Intake says Toucan Industries on it. I can only assume that they are talking about the ractive in that example!

Yeah, IIRC, Toucan makes Ractive. No website that I could find though.

Anyway, so do you have a model # for the intake Sandman? And, if you don't mind me asking, how much was your intake? The one listed at that DriverFX.ca website says ~$110 and I'm pretty sure that's in CDN.

It's also a short ram, correct?

TIA

Don't have the model # on me, but I can check when I get home tonight.

It's a short ram and I got it from the Dealership for 139. Most places here in Edmonton are charging 145$+ with the exception of one of the JBs power centers which has it for $110 but even then only one guy there quoted me that price. All the other guys quoted me 149.

Bear in mind that if u order online you'll probably have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping!! Call your local dealerships and see how much they can get it for. Mention that you've seen it for 110 and see if they can match the price. I went back to the dealership and mentioned it and they're giving me a free oil change to help offset the difference in price!

As an aside, my intake actually came from a calgary dealership, as there was a calgary sticker on it!

Actually, the thing I'm interested in about DriverFX is that if they're partnered closely with CanTire, MAYBE you can order it thru CanTire and hopefully save on the shipping and handling charges.

But then again, maybe they're just an online extension and therefore only do business online?

Could be - the actual Canadian Tire website sucks pants.

I'm surprised that their Evil and more expensive twin, Part Source weren't the ones trying to get involved with direct...

Hi guys

Okay so there I was last night at Parts Source getting some brake cleaner for the calipers. No problem, as we all know Canadian Tire division so the same price as in the store, but now I am a regular so I got a discount. Anyway, I started to ask the guy about aftermarket parts since I remember this post that Mike put up. He said yes they can bring in stuff and they have a special order catalogue for that stuff. So he shows me this catalogue and it is the size of a phone book. Wow, I could not believe it. I started to flip through it and was amazed at the companies in it. There is even Wings West body kits in there for Pete's sake. Not sure on the prices but the guy said if it is in the catalogue then they can probably get it. Saw the section on the rims and I was drooling. So I ended up buying the catalogue just to have for reference. Bad idea as now I see all this stuff that I can add to the P5. When will it ever stop.

Hi Mike,

The catalogue was $7.99 when you are a member. I think it is $10.99 if you are not. I can ask there this weekend or are there not some of these stores in Calgary? By the way, there are 1120 pages to this book, all in colour.

Thanks Chris. We do have Parts Source here and I have one of those Club card membership things.

I just never go there, that's the thing. Anyway, I'll go there sometime and check that catalogue out. Thanks for the info!

I would also like a quote on the Ractive intake. I havent seen any Parts Source stores in Quebec. Are they part of Canadian Tire stores or they separate?

When you see a canadian tire semi-trailer unloading product into a part source store, you know they're connected!!

Call them the more expensive cousin...

for example:

Car wash products are on average $1 more than the identical item at cambodian tire...

Hmmm not so sure about that Jason. Some things maybe but I just bought some caliper cleaner and it was the same price at Part Source as Can Tire. Also, on a lot of things you get a discount if you are a frequent customer, frequent meaning you bought something more than once. I am in their data base and he looks up my name and I get a different price. Cool huh . BTW, I'll bring that caalogue tonight.

Could be.. I don't buy a lot there since there's a C-Tire just down the road from my work it's more convenient to just go there.

But the products i have looked at though have been more expensive. Maybe after the discount they work out to the same price as CDNtire?

Am I the only one tired of every store having a 'free' discount card or something along those lines? Why not just have the lower price on the sticker and call it a day, since 99% of the people are gonna get that discount anyway?

It's like psychologically making you think you're part of some elite club where only members are able to get such a great deal, but in reality everyone's paying the same as you...
