Butterfly Knife keys...

I've seen these butterfly knife keys that I think are awesome!!! Anyone have them? They sell for about $20-25 USD in stores, but this guy on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1874492411 is somewhat less. Do you think I will encounter any problems when getting the key made? Thanks

I collect knives, only a few, but the one I mentioned on top is actually a key. You buy it and get it cut out by a keysmith and should be able to use it. I've seem them, they look cool, about 2 inches in length when folded away. Just wondering if anyone got one made for their mazda. I guess my question is "are all the mazda keys the same? (Of course before getting it cut to match your ignition key). Are the grooves the same on all the mazdas? I really want one. It's very different and not many people have it

If the picture that is posted on Ebay is the actual key style, then it won't work on the P5's. The P5 key doesn't have the middle slot like that one does. However, it looks like it could work on my Escort (which shares the same ignition lock as the 1st Gen Pro).

I noticed that too, I don't think it would work with the P5, too bad cuz I really wanted to get one.

Few shops carry them...

A few aftermarket shops in LA have them for other cars (Honda, Toyota,.....), but don't carry it in stock. I asked them to get one for me, but they haven't called me back yet (I asked them last Thursday or something like that). But I've held one for honda up close, its pretty neat I'll try to get them and let you guys know if it works or not... continue the post...

Keen sense of the obvious you have there. Note, however, that the actual key blank is different than the blank for the P5. I'm not privy to the style of slugs that the older 3rd Gens and 2nd Gens use, so I'm not sure if it'll work for those or not.

.

Sorry, I couldn't pass that one up .

Like kcbhiw said, the key blank shown there is diferent than the one the P5 and my car have.

It's all good...

I think it's nice of you to be one of the first to try the key... I would buy it in a heartbeat if I could see it and take it off the shelf. I'm still not too crazy about buying stuff on ebay... maybe its just me, but I don't like going through all that process of checking out...bla bla bla. I went back to the store that was going to get it for me, they said it'll be here next week... ya. I know the lady well, but she is forgetful I think. I offered to put a deposit but she said she knew me and that was not necessary. They do have the best prices!!! Anyways keep us posted about your success with the keys!!! Thanks
