im still here...
i dont own either, but i have driven a few and formed my own impressions:
both cars are not designed or marketed for the same demographic. the rx-8 is a very well balanced car with a lot of grip and a very forgiving chassis. the speed3 is quite the torque beast but its not as confident around the corners as the planted rx-8. dont get me wrong the speed3 is flat and grippy as you get, but the rx-8's rear wheel drive 50/50 weight distribution really shows thru.
i do like the speed3's convenience. you get 4 doors. you get a big trunk (cuz i'm gonna put my bike in it). but you do not get a moonroof-im not a fan of moonroofs anyway. its probably cheaper to run to boot.
anyway the rx-8 is a very capable sport coupe that thinks its a sedan. the speed3 is a hot hatch for the sport compact generation. you have 2 different cars for 2 different wants...you just have to pick a side.
