Exclamation Accord Info...

Not to taint our board with Honda news, but I've admittedly been awaiting the release of the new '03 Accord, and have learned that official advertising for the new model will begin on June 17, meaning we'll be able to check out pics and specification info..

I'm curious to see how it'll stack up against the Mazda6, and am just hoping they don't **** that car up like they did the new (ugly-***) Civic.

Mazda 6 has nothing to worry about

found this....

http://beta.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=12470

comparing the 2, I would prefer the 6's more aggressive look

Mazda6 all the way, that new accord is hideous, and im not suprised. I don't know what design team got the job for the recent models of Honda cars, but damn they need to be taken out back shot.

Thumbs down Whoa!

Thanks for the pics link!

Okay, here's my initial analysis:

Tail light assembly =

5 spoke wheels (attempting to copy Mazda) =

Bulging headlight design =

Overall I wouldn't say it's a heinous car, although judgement should be reserved until I get to see better all around pictures. It also doesn't appear to be the "shocking, dramatic" change from the current design that I had heard it would be.

Anyway, I agree, if that's well and true going to be the new Accord, the Mazda6 is much better looking. I just hope the new engine design and overall quality of the 6 is equal to that of the current generation Proteges (which is as good as it gets).

The new Mazda 6 is supposed to be the first in a new line of Mazda's that will take quality (especially the interior) to levels never before seen in a production Mazda. Car and Driver, in their first test drive of the 4-cyl Mazda 6, said the look and feel of the dash seems right out of a BMW.

The 3.0L Duratec has proven to be quite reliable in the Taurus, Escape/Tribute, LS, and S-Type. Now that Mazda has added their Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT) and better breathing, the 3.0L should be awesome, especially when paired up with a 5-spd manual!

I would have prefered the more radical styling of the prototypes but who knows maybe the Euro and JDM ones look different. America always gets the most bland version of Accord, spec wise and styling wise. No offense Travis .
I see a little Caddy CTS and the pre-this gen Hyundai Sonata.....ewwwwww....

Hopefully Honda will offer it across the board, rather than just the base models like before. That was one nice thing about the 626... you could get a loaded ES-V6 and still get a 5-spd.

I dunno when Accords begun to look different depending on market but I do know ALL versions are for sale in the HK market.
The American ones caters to a older, more matur audience. And the Euro and JDM are more boy racer cars. But at in 4 doors, and 4 seats and a functionality of a sedan, it truly does make one awesome package. I think the 97+JDM Accord's design was sold to Isuzu. They produce an Accord but named the Turano in Japan.

My favorite one would be the Accord EuroR. With the 2.0L engine from the RSX-R, producing 220ps and a 8200rpm redline, it makes for a awesome sedan.

No offense to Accord owners tho. It's just the fact they get the sportier car overseas. Just how like the P5 is the more milder version than the SP20, well engine-wise at least.

And that my friend..is why I do nothing but JDM motor swaps USDM vrs JDM is a HUGE difference, whether it is the whole car itself, or parts. 90-93 accords come in both JDM and USDM Versions, the JDM ones are rare, but worth it if you find one. My friend just got one in perfect condition with 220k miles for $4000. Its a true sight to see, if you know the difference between the 2.
