Rev It Up - Day 1
well i went today (aug 2) to the rev it up at belmont.it was absolutely amazing. i got to test drive all the new models and both the Mazdaspeed and mx-5 ls came in standard. these were the two cars i was the most impressed with. shifting is spectacular and acceleration was amazing on both. i wasn't too flattered with the 6 however, i felt it was lacking power but all in all the new Mazda lineup is nice. i also saw a few pros in the lot. i actually parked next to a silver 3rd gen with altezzas. also saw a few yellow p5's. but all and all it was an amzing expirience.

I went to the Rev it up today (Sunday) in Belmont.. registered like 4 months ago so despite it conflicting with my work schedule pretty badly I went and then worked afterwards..
I test drove the Mazdaspeed and unfortunately didn't wring it out as much as I should've, or even the Mazda 6s used in competition, I was driving all tame and uh (looks down) did a 29.4 second lap in a Mazda 6 on the competition track.. I wasn't pushing the car hard at all
For a mid-size car, the Mazda 6 has VERY Protege like steering and handling, felt very natural to drive
The mazdaspeed has a really really smooth shifting transmission compared to my car.. i wonder if new gear oil is gonna give me that like new shift quality feel ever again.. ohhh and what a flat suspension around the test drive track, wonderful.
In the goodies bag if you signed up for the driving clinic etc.. they give a $250 off any 2003-2004 Mazda (except RX8) on top of any current incentives coupon good after all negotiations that expires end of October.. not bad for paying $39 for the event and all the other stuff.. if they bump up the rebate on the MSP or Protege 5 before discontinuing the models it's got me thinking..
Anyway, hopefully they bring the event back next year with the Mazda 3 or something, in the meanwhile I really need to get more comfortable with cones.
